Here is a piece written by Andy Rooney from CBS's 60 Minutes. It's hard to believe that a man wrote this - Enjoy!

As I grow in age, I value women who are over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 40 will not lie next to you in bed and ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.

If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And it's usually something more interesting!

A woman over 40 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 40 give a &*#! what you might think about her or what she's doing.

Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise. They know what it's like to be unappreciated.

A woman over 40 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over 40 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. They already know.

A woman over 40 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women or drag queens.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed woman of 40+ there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 18-year-old waitress.

Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?", here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.

Amen Andy~

Sounds like the difference in a woman and a girl. ;)

You suppose that starts at 40? ;)

35 is my line in the sand. Before that, many/most women care more about what they look like to other women, other men, in a mirror or store window they pass, than they do about whatever it is they are doing. After that, women actually enjoy attention and are willing to give it in return.

Rooney's point -- "a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart." -- is sort of a D'oh moment imo, though as I say I think most women are ready to begin life at 35, some even younger.

Just my biased $.02.

Age 40? A guy is lucky if he ever comes across a woman willing to put up with all his crap no matter how old she is!

Men are such babies most of the time :hair:

Before I rejoined the ranks of the connected class, I went out with a couple of over 40's women who pretty-much fitted that profile.

They were self-absorbed people who masked their insecurities with bravado and venom.

I did not have a relationship with them so much as around them, and it was little wonder that my interest in them evaporated fairly quickly.

I read nothing of joy and happiness in Rooney's torrent, a sad thing at best, a life-style indictment at worst.

I've been going through a mid-life crisis spurred on by the upcoming removal of some of the organs I see as those at the core of my feminity. I am 37. I look forward to enterring my 40s. I hope I'll continue to find confidence within myself as I am mastering the art of being a sex goddess, a woman, a mother, a professional and above all a human being.

Lil,

Is there any question of that?

No-one else here seems be be under any illusion that a bit of surgery is going to get in the way of any of your aspirations.
