A point I hadn’t considered before, is that we have our sexy people all over the world who can give us the REAL dope on anything we want to know about from a first hand view.:thumbs: We’ll be posting information about the tentative Pixie Adults Gathering At Niagara on this thread. Because we are blessed with resident Pixies that have a greater insight than any chamber of commerce or brochure printer, we’ll be able to ferret out the best bang for our buck and timely information on everything from accommodations and official border crossing requirements :argue: to alternate attractions and substitute traffic routes that will be at the absolute peek of tourist season.:car:

We hope to have well coordinated information regarding this event in the next two weeks from among us that have previously visited over 10 times and from Pixies living near by.

Actually, I had a dream that we had a huge Pixies get together at your place. I was supergenerous in my dream because you and Mr and Baby IWM had a multimillion dollar beach mansion. I know PF was there because it was a costume party and most of us came dressed as our AVs, And he was "thinking" in the corner drinking out of a pink panty shaped glass. Lilith was in a Moderatrix outfit, and WildIrish was dressed as a farmer with a "stuffed" sheep tied to the front of him :ewe::irish:, OldFart was the Green Lantern and Aqua was a big eye that moved back and forth and printed right above his bare ass was "Nothing To See Here". You, IWM, were wearing a flag, high black boots, and a smile. Dicksbro was bodypainted as a forest theme with "Dicksbro" painted in fancy lettering...well...right over top of his dicksbro :D

There were sooo many people there, I know Boogs and Soda were there and so was Mayhem, and Sharni, and Bilbo and Lou and Fussy but I don't recall what we were wearing (perhaps nothing :D:D:D) Everyone who had a S/O, brought them. There were rooms upon rooms of all of us, and then there were a few room that we could get upon each other. There was the pool and the ocean to go swimming and a large maze for secret trysts :D

Sorry to be slow in posting some real information about our Pixie Adult Gathering At Niagara. :o Our busy Pixies have been shooting bits and clumps of information and options at me and I’m sorting pieces and piles for posting here.

First thing I’ve become aware of is that what is taken for granted by any of us that have been there, is the fact that you don’t go to Niagara Falls to see it from the American side.:yikes: That would be equal to touring Europe only from Iceland. Close but no cigar.:gb:

It took a minute for me (and others) to realize “How would they know!?!?”. :sad: Travel agents are going to point you to the places with the slickest web sites, best Madison Avenue brochures and biggest commissions. :cheerlead We hope to give some insight from the views of different people with many visits. :rolleyes2

That being said, we WILL focus our gathering on the Canadian side and I’ll be posting all the current information regarding border crossing, within the next day. It is not a problem this year. :nana:

Just as an aside to the Falls, Niagara is also home to an outstanding wine region called Niagara on The Lake....a very short drive away...some great wines and wineries...

As well, they just opened a huge indoor water park in Niagara...

Not too mention, for those who have never been, there's the Maid Of The Mist boat ride which goes right up to the falls...a very cool boat ride...

For the people that are going to Pixies Adult Gathering At Niagara, there is going to be a large selection of things to do. As you can see from just a few minutes of surfing, there is a LOT of things (http://www.infoniagara.com/attractions/indexf.html) built around such an attraction. I want to take a moment and speak to the first time visitor to the Falls.

It is the attraction it is, because of the truly fantastic natural phenomena. Niagara Falls IS considered one of the Natural Wonders Of The World. Perhaps we who have had this spectacular occurrence available are guilty of taking it for granted. We also are hampered by the fact that our language created superlatives, but uses them on such trivial things. I can only tell you this is where words like “awesome”, “amazement” “astonishment”, and “wonder” have their root and purpose. “Ya really had to be there!” is a superlative phrase that had to be first muttered in this place.

It requires a second visit to be able to intellectually take in the Falls. Your first close contact with the incredible power is very emotional, what some of us consider spiritual. I share this consensus after discussions with others and do not merely present my opinion. Therefore, I would also like to share the consensus of joint experience in recommending things you want on your “Must Do” list.

As for Falls focused attractions, there are many as your surfing will show. You can do everything from take a pricey helicopter ride (http://www.niagarafallslive.com/helicopter_tours_of_niagara_fall.htm ) over them, to jet boat (http://www.niagarafallslive.com/niagara_falls_whirlpool_jetboat_.htm ) rides into the whirlpool, to getting that picture of yourself against the railing with the Falls in the background or at the famous floral clock. (That is a pic you will put in the album with your graduation and wedding pics and they’re free.) Here are the three ways to experience the Falls that you will try to do at least two of. They are reasonable in price and acceptable in time.

Maid of the Mist...
There's no better way to see Niagara Falls than on the world-famous Maid of the Mist. People from all over the world have been enjoying the spectacular views this boat offers since 1846. Once on board you will be given a hooded raincoat and will get up close and personal with the breathtaking Niagara Falls scenery. The experience will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.

Shelter for the PAGANS


Tents will be set up along the shore of the mighty waters at the Days Inn Niagara North meadows on 12 August 2006 for Pixies Adult Gathering At Niagara. Each tent will have 2 Queen beds, gas fireplace, colour television, in room movies, in room coffee, hairdryer, individual climate control and full bathroom.

For two adults it will cost $CAD 228.00 ($USD 191.25) [plus the hefty Canadian tax which will drop to 14% by then] for that night. For the people interested in sharing a room, there is an aditional $CAD 10.00 per person. The same room is available on Friday for $CAD 168.00 ($USD 141.12) and also on Sunday the 13th for $CAD 148.00 ($USD 124.00) for Pixies that may be staying an additional night to take in the many unique attractions.

A block of 10 rooms has been set aside until 16 July 2006 for “Pixie Gathering” by which time our reservations MUST be reserved. Being the peek of tourist season, they will not guarantee availability of a room, period, and surely not together.

I’ve just been told some Pixies are intending to optimize the Pixie Adults Gathering At Niagara and will be staying a number greater than one night.

OldFart and Mrs. OldFart will be arriving in Buffalo NY on Thurday, 10 August, and making their way across the border to Niagara, Canada. He expressed hopes of happily meeting any Pixies as they take in some of the sights on Friday, before PAGAN on Saturday. I want to give the break-down for additional hotel nights for the people that have already told me they will be staying added days.

As we know, August is the peek tourist season and the inn keepers know it too. :cheers: Their registers ring louder in this month and also by the day of the week. This same room was available for $48 on a Wednesday night in April. :curse: lol

USA Visitors Entering Canada

It’s not a holiday for the poor Canadian worker today. :(

We reviewed the diverse Pixie needs and qualified a couple options. Ms. Simon was good enough to send us a copy of the priced menu from the Frontier Grillhouse (http://www.niagaradaysinn.com/frontier/ ).


The Pixie dinner :bite: will be early (17:30 hr.) for the reason we want to be finished and OUT and in the Skylon Tower (http://www.skylon.com/) at 20:00 hr. Sunset that date, at that longitude is at 20:27 hr. The last group event of the day will be a visit to Skylon for the best photo opportunity of the Falls and a big chunk of Canada. We’ll see the lighting of the Falls and then be able to drift as group, or in clusters or as individuals to what night life interests there may be.

I was told that the BEST option for making room reservations was to call her direct at her toll free number, as they are a central booking office for most of the hotels in the area and some of the MANY online links don’t always get linked to the right desk. ;)

I was getting worried, though. My wife and I stopped into AAA in Peoria and asked about them printing a map of the route with the diversions we mentioned and they give us lots of maps and tourist guides and stuff (as well as having the map sent to our home). Anyway, as we were driving home my wife started reading off things to see and do and I asked if those were all in Niagara Falls. "No," she answered, "but they are in Ontario!"

I know the tax is 14%. (dropped 1% starting August 1, 2006) Did you get a Friday night rate by chance? Remember, they have different rates for different days of the week and different week rates for different parts of the season.

Yes I'm sorry we missed getting in touch this past weekend. The funny thing is my phone service was out until Monday afternoon anyway and not only that I wouldn't have been able to get up and answer it because I blew my knee out somehow. So after all the wonderful time spent in the ER I didn't move much about the house. (Boy Neil Young was right a man does maid :yikes: and now I need a nurse too) I didn't say anything because my hope was to still make the trip but after talking to my regular doctor yesterday I don't believe that is going to be the case. I won't know what course of action will be taken until she gets all the test results back next week. I really wanted to be there I was so looking forward to it after this week I could haved used a mini vacation. I have a research paper due tomommow and I still have to study for the final that will also be given tomorrow. Sometimes I still wonder why after all these years I decided to go to college. Well give my best to all those who are going to attend and I hope you all have a wonderful time.

Well...I waited all this while because I had hoped things would change, but it's official. Mr. Lixy and I won't be able to attend. It's a RL family thing and I just can't get away right now. Well . . . what can I say?

PF & DB should probably keep working together. I'm sure they could find a solution to world peace if they put their heads together. They made the event meaningful & fun & words can't describe it.

It was so surreal to walk out onto a patio filled with Pixies on Saturday morning. I recognized sdls & Boog but I hadn't seen pics of anyone else but PF. I had to ask which one had the Aussie accent to sort out Scarecrow, DB & OF. :) I should have just realized the darkest one of the lot was likely the Aussie.

There are LOTS of pics coming & the stories will be flowing for months, I'm sure.

OF's better half should have been videotaped before dinner last night because she was so eloquent in talking about Pixies & how we're another family for him (& all of us).

Some quick mentions:

--DB is taller than I imagined
--OF isn't 80 like I pictured
--Scarecrow's laugh is infectious
--sdls & Boog are the sweetest couple
--PF won $80 at the craps table in a few minutes
--Bibi is sassy :D
