So when you mix em up, what do you drink? Have you ever considered having a tasting party? I often feel stuck in a grind when at the bar and order the same old same old. I used to drink vodka on the rocks in the summer. Now I feel I've fallen into the Captain & Coke rut. So many choices and never knowing quite where to turn for a new flavor.

Scotch and bitter lemon.

A virgin's despair (aka le gopener)
1/2 nip of gin
1/2 nip of vodka
1/2 nip blue curacao
in a tall glass topped up with 50/50 dry ginger and lemonade.

It adds a whole new dimension to the expression "shitfaced".

Yummy! I want to try this one. I usually stick to Cap-n-coke too. Sometimes I will get a strawberry margarita or a whiskey sour if I'm feeling festive.

Noting all the delicious recipes coming in. Now with age and maturity I've come to learn that the higher on the shelf the booze comes from the less severe the hangover...with that thought thrown out there are you brand specific on your booze?

Do you always stick with a favorite .... for instance Jim Beam bourbon, or Patrón tequila, or Absolut Vodka, maybe Cruzan Coconut Rum?

I know in the winter I love Rumple Mintz Schnapps over ice for sipping to warm me on a cold night. It just tastes far better than Phillip's Schnapps.

I like cranberry juice and vodka. I usually ask for Absolut Citron or Absolut Limon. If neither are available, then I'll take either reqular Absolut or Smirnoff vodka.

If I'm making at home it's more like cranberry juice, orange juice, Absolut Citron, and a splash of sprite. But that's just too much to utter each time I want a drink while out.

I also like bailey's on the rocks but that's more a dessert than an everyday drink.

I am a margarita (strawberry or lime) kind of gal...but sometimes I like cherry vodka sours.

But if I really want to i get wild I go for a flaming Dr. Pepper.

But if I really want to have a good time Jose never lets me down. :wine:

One of my favorites when I drank a Stoli Vanil white russian,

1/2 oz Kahlua
1 1/2 oz Stoli Vanil vodka
1/2 oz cream
served over ice.

I guess I like it simple when I do drink.
Give me a margarita or a crown(royal) and coke.

Here is a link that might be of interest to some of you though

We saw a show on HGTV last night that gave great (and somewhat practical) ideas for a backyard bash. Items included were serving shots in test-tubes chilled in a tub of crushed ice, a variety of cordial mixtures, and three interesting ways to add spice to a pony keg of beer so that more than just conventional beer drinkers can enjoy a tall cold one. It's actually something I can envision Mrs. WI and I doing.

I'll try to find a link to the episode.

I feel like I've seen that... but it might have been an episode of semi-homemade on the food network that I'm thinking of.
