Its interesting how bisexuality has become accepted and even appreciated by many today. The only thing unusual is that its deemed "acceptable" and "hot" for women but "unacceptable" and "gay" for men. What I mean by this is women can be talked about as being bi and people don't really think much of it. They don't think she is a closet lesbian or women don't look at her like she might come on to them at any moment. If it gets out that a guy is bi then he "is really a fag" and he is going to hit on every guy he meets.

I wonder if its just a matter of time before it becomes acceptable or its always going to be a double standard.

I am the average heterosexual in a long term relationship. I haven't done anything with another guy and probably won't but it still interests me every once and a while. I want no relationship with another guy..no emotional contact just the sex is what interests me. A girl I went to school with made it clear she wanted to have sex with another girl someday and nobody thought anything of it but if I had done that I would have been and still would be labeled "gay".

Just wondering if anybody else thinks the same and also wondering what women think of bisexual guys....well just bisexuality actually. Would it change your opnion of a guy/girl and so on?

Yes it will always be a double standard. Something the guys have to live with and keep secret if they dont want to be labeled. Just the same with the slut and the player. It is sooooooo cool in someways that a guy can be with as many partners as he wants and is labeled a "player" but if women are with alot of partners then we are considered sluts....

Life is just not fair...I say to each there own. If I dont like it I dont like it but hey whatever works for you is fine by me. I dont tell people how to live their lives and I dont want to be told how to live mine.

But back to the topic....whatever works for you...sex is great when you have an open mind.

I think it's pretty basic.

Bi females are still "available" to the jocks, so it's just a little kinky.

Bi men introduce chances that they could pass on to women devastating

diseases that can compromise the availability of women, thus are bad.

The biggest fear for some is that in a threesome, they could become "piggy in

the middle" and enjoy it, making them something they hate, with ego consequences.

When is polyamoury going to take root? What could be sexier than two disease free bisexual couples getting together with no jealousy or mind games.

Knock off the puns before Scotz or PF take up the challenge.

I have always wondered why bisexuality is "more acepted" in women than men. Men are weird, so who knows for sure...
But remember, "more accepted" is a relative thing...
I think that Oldfart (kiss) and txgrneyes (kiss and a feel) are right as far as they go, but there is a lot more to it.
This is a male dominated world, so like it or not, they make the rules.
I think in men's eyes bisexual women = women who really like sex = slut.
Slut means "available" sexually to men.
Lesbian women are not sexually available to men, and believe me they get seriously harassed and maltreated because of this.
I have had phases in my life when I lived and loved as a lesbian rather than as a bi woman. The differences in how I was seen and teated by people, mostly men, men I had known for a long time, was really disturbing to me.
(shrugs)
By the way Oldfart, I think the atitude toward bi men isn't just about disease, (though frankly I don't have sex with bi men for that very reason.) Historically bi woman have been more acepted than bi men for a very long time. In Rome, bisexual men were looked at as weaker, and were not considered of importance until they had married and fathered a child, (preferably a son, of course) while women were expected to enjoy the "company" of other women.
Goodness, even Sappho was supposed to be bi rather than strictly a lesbian!
Some of this acceptance of bi women has to do with men and their bloodlines, I think.
Woman with woman (WTW) = no children, so all offspring are those of the man, and the bloodline is secure.
Remember, it wasn't that long ago that women could not inherit their father's or even their husband's property, so a male heir was a important.

Wanda!!

Too long no see.

Bisexuality, like any human behaviour, has gone through periods of acceptance and disapproval.

Classical Sparta and renaissance Italy were periods where it was expected that (especially young) men would achieve sexual release through the most available social group, each other.

The other face of general modern resistance to bisexuality in men is the niggling fear held by men who are not really comfortable in their sexuality that association with bi men may precipitate a situation where they will take part in a bi episode and come out the end as a pink card carrying gay activist. It's narrow, silly and improbable, but the fear is there.

I gotta agree with Alasse and Lilith........omg bisexual man.......yummmmmy!!!

But, yes, unfortunately it is a "big deal" and it shouldn't be. If someone wants to experiment or finds both sexes to be beautiful, or well um want to make my fantasy come true...... that's their own business......

/runs to watch bi porn........ ;)

Glad to hear some input on the issue. Its an interesting issue. Another thing thats odd is unless you specifically buy bi porn, they guys won't hardly look at eachother in any porn but women even if they aren't having sex will still kiss or something. In porn or even in "real life" if 2 men and 2 women are having a 4some why the boundary? Just let it go and see what happens. Sex can be fun, why limit!

Acceptance kind of depends on who you hang with, too, don't you think?

And I don't mean that bi- is more acceptable if your friends are gay ... quite the opposite, in fact.

I have a number of friends, both women and men, who are accepting of bisexuality -- some have tried it and don't personally care for it, others have not been able to try it yet, and some are frankly bisexual -- but anyone who is bisexual had better be pretty careful who they admit it to ... hetero OR gay!

Personally, I think the rejection of it is based more on fear of the unknown ... sort of like my 14 y o friend who won't try new foods because they look "gross." I mean, if it's not something you see in romantic comedies, how would you know if it was good? Limited thinking based on limited experience = closed minds.
