Hi, everybody. I've recently started shaving my head, and found that the biggest problem is that the razor keeps clogging. Running it under water doesn't help. whacking it against the sink works, but not very well, and any of the better razors just tends to knock the head of the razor off. I've tried 2,3, and 4 blades (4 cloggs the worse, but I will admit gives a good shave), foam and gel shaving cream, different brands, ones where the whole thing is disposable and where you just replace the head. I even contacted one of the manufacturers to see if they had any ideas, but no luck.
Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks
Lilith

I will ask my brother for you. He has done this since he was 20. Ohhhhhhhhh I remember he told me he does it in the shower.

…. While you wash your face, let a mug (http://www.zooscape.com/cgi-bin/maitred/RedSafari/questp415350/jornada25065960) full stand to heat up the cake (http://www.drugstore.com/qxp80944_333181_sespider/williams/mug_shaving_soap.htm) with the brush in it.
Turn the end of the razor (http://www.imagesupplyhouse.net/Double-Edge-Razors--Merkur--Long-Handle-p-3572.html) handle and when the top opens or comes off, set in a fresh blade (http://store.darisimall.com/563502.html) and close.
Tip your mug and dump the most of the water. Start whipping up a lather with the brush (http://www.excaliburcutlery.com/shaving3.html#Anchor-49425) and when it foams to the top, dump it and drain all the water. Keep beating until the thick later covers the bristles.
Apply and SHAVE.
If the razor clogs with long hairs, turn the end ½ turn and run under water.
(the razor head. Not you run under water) :)
You have to tell these kids everything

My best advice fredchabotnick from my personal experince is you have to clean after every stroke of the razor. But if you are still having problems either use a tooth pick or something like that to clean it form the back of the razors head.

Alopecia if you don't mind a permanent depilation.

Wait, so I could stop being covered in hair with just a simple little autoimmune disease? Sign me up!
PF - That sort of razor still scares me. One of these days I'll probably see the light and start using one, but for now...no.

Not to worry. After a couple good nicks, you'll stop that. ;)

Yep...do it in the shower. The force of the water from the shower head (<---I said head) is stronger than that of the sink faucet. The Mach 3 has 3 blades and Mr. Lixy lets me use it because it's the first razor he's ever had that rinses clean and doesn't dull as fast as others. I rinse the blades real close to the shower head and turn it over and over to get it clean from both sides. What doesn't rinse out from the shave side will rinse from the other side easily.
BTW...No! I don't shave my head. Just all my bits is all!

Thanks for the advice everybody. Booger, using a toothpick is helping, Salacious, there's a lot of good information there, and PF...I gave blood yesterday. I think I'll avoid giving at the sink :D
