:(
As some of you know I have been diagnosed with endometriosis about 10 months ago. Have been on hormone therapy and other meds since for about 2 years now. Well nothing is working. I progressed on the levels to a 5 and now the only option to this is to live with it....or a hysterectomy.

:o
So I go in and pre-register and do labs on the 24th and then have the surgery on the 27th of this month.

Ya'll wish me luck and good thoughts....and all prayers too.

Also, if anyone can give any advice on life after a hysterectomy, sexual, emotional, and just living please feel free to. I do have so many questions...

Thanks to all,

Natalie

I had one about 8 weeks ago and could not be more happy with the results. (everything and i mean EVERYTHING is working great!) :D Feel free to PM me with any questions you might have.....

I feel absolutely wonderful. There were several post-surgical glitches but I had a great doctor who listened and responded whenever I felt a problem coming on, so nothing got too out of hand.

You'll be in my prayers. I know how scary it is and the wondering how you'll be afterwards is a little unnerving too.

Oh, you might want to go over to the hystersisters.com website and ask questions/get support from there too. TONS of info there that should help you a lot.

My thoughts will be with you! I've heard many more good things than bad of the after effects. Everyone is different and you'll discover your own coping tools for the menopausal symptoms (if any). Research and family history will predicate what is right for you. I've heard very good things about the homeopathic meds to help with things like hot flashes. Be sure to know and understand the long term effects of any chemical/hormone replacement therapy! Weigh the benefits and risks...and educate yourself to the hilt! Knowledge IS power!

Best wishes hun!

My only advice and hopefully you have already done this, but get a second opinion. Many years ago my wife called me at work crying that she could never have children, we met with the Doc, he pushed for surgery. He told us it was the only option. We sought a second opinion and the rest is history, we have two grown children. I wish you the best of luck.

I too have endometriosis. Went for years being misdiagnosed by just about every specialist there was. Then I met my current doc who knew right away what it was. That was about 4 years ago. Did laproscopic surgery to find out just about all my insides were ruined. Endometriosis was on everything. I lost my ovary and fallopian tube at age 29, with no children. That surgery was major and kept me out of work and in bed for 6 weeks. I was in a lot of pain. But, I only cared about feeling better. I had a total of 5 surgeries to "feel better". I had stage 4 endo. I knew the only way I would feel better was to have a hysterectomy. I went to my doctor asking for it and he didn't want to do it. Said he didn't think I was mentally ready for it. I went on to a fertility specialiest, etc. Nothing. I just kept living with the pain. Luckily, I didn't have the hysterectomy because I got pregnant. I know one day I'll have to have it, but right now I haven't had any problems at all so I'm just waiting it out.

I wish you lots of luck and wish there was an easier way for you to have some comfort.

AWWWWWW Thank yall for the kind words. Yes I have done my research and even impressed my doc with the knowledge and questions I asked. But of course we are good friends out side of the doc patient relaitionship.

And yes, Lion, I did get a second opinion. But to my surprise My Doc told me to go get one and he would pay for it (which he did). Any one at my choosen. So I opted for a doc in a larger city that was a specialist. And yes it was the same diagnoses. So with out futher incident we are goin ahead with the surgery.

I have had two children and made that decision 7 yrs ago to get my tubes tide so that wasn't even a factor. I just want to live and enjoy life and not be hurting all the time after all I am just 35.

So thanks again and keep good thoughts and I will keep you informed.

Well, I am weaning myself off of the pain killers so my head is not as fuzzy. But still a bit sore well more than a bit but it is all internal. But I overdid it a couple of nites ago and cleaned my (sooooooooooooo dirty) house. Well that was a mistake....ended up in the ER. I was dehydrated and bleeding. Turned out that I had overdid it and ended back up in the hospital overnite with an IV in my arm and ended up getting 2 large bags (liters?) of clear liquid during the nite and 2 small bags of anitbotics.....but now I have an actual note from the doc to not do ANY housework....so if anyone comes over I can at least show them a note from the doc why my house looks so bad. The bleeding turned out to be a infection (UTI) from the tube they put to my bladder (sp=cathiter) during surgery.

All and all.....at this point I do NOT recommend a hysterectomy!!!! But I will let you know in a couple of months when I feel better.

Hey watch for me in chat...I just might be there....since I can only sit and lay down for 1 week now. Normally that would sound like heaven but my backside cant take it.....and i cant lay on my stomach cant do any "fun" stuff in bed.....sooooooo you do the math.

Just goes to show that there's no such thing as "minor" surgery when it applies to you...just take care of you for now, ignore the dust bunnies mating & multiplying for now, & remember...pain meds are our FRIENDS ;)

You know what? All the dirty house and everything will be there later. Even if you cleaned it up, it would get back in the same shape in about 15 minutes anyway! (at least it would at our house!) Ignore the house and take it easy. You will feel better faster if you take the time to rest and let your body heal. Trust me.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. Been a bit busy now that I can get off my butt and move around more than just a quick trip here and there.

Dealing with issues that have come up...like my stereo getting stolen from my truck....which i got back. Some little 16 yr old punk thinks he is a smart ass and tried to sell it to my neighbor...not a bright boy i must say. It was a seen though...but I couldn't touch him cause he was underage...but his dad took care of it right in the front yard ( yeah, go dad!)

But other wise I am doin pretty good...my body tells me when to slow down and I have learned to listen.

Ya'll take care....

Go Dad! You gotta love it when some punk kid does something stupid and gets busted for it by his parents. So often now, parents are unwilling to take the responsibility to raise their kids. Sounds like this one was very willing!

Glad to hear you are doing better. Keep it up! We'll get it together one of these days!
