What the hell is with the youths?

I mean the 12-16 year olds. Are they insane or something???

This last few days i have had 4 decide that they want to play chicken with me and my bus. Yes thats right a youth weighing in at prolly about 50lbs v 12 tonne double decker bus. I know that they see it comming as most of the time they are in the road running towards the bus as i am doing 30mph down the road. They think that is it sooooooooo funny but what they forget is that if the driver hits them they will not survive BUT nor will the drivers mind. S/He will have to live with it for the rest of their lives. They just have no respect. I have seen so many push the older people out of they way just so they can get on 2 seconds quicker.

Then again, I may have been guilty of the old "flaming poo on the doorstep & ringing the bell" trick when I was young. Looking back, uh...that might've been kinda wrong. lmfao

I make light of that, but your scenario is so much more dangerous than poo flambé. Kids think they're invincible when they pull stuff like this, and when someone gets hurt or killed...everyone laments the senseless tragedy. I think I'll go home and tell my 13 year old son that if I ever find out he's been pulling shit like that I'll kick his ass. :mad:

Then i drag his arse to the internet and show him some graphic pics of what ya can end up like after being hit

I must say that kids do stupid shit because of peer presure not because of rock music, country or any other kind of music. Let's all remember back when we were kids and that kid we all looked up to suggested we try this or that. Remember how we all would follow him/her to the place that it all started at. They would get us to go first, one of us would get hurt and he would run away, because he was scared shitless. Then the next day he would laugh and tell everyone about it, but we didn't say anything cause if we did he would kick our ass and make fun of us. That is why we have kids doing stupid shit, just like we did, but not as dangerous. Why do you think bin Ladan is still alive with all his LT's and all his followers are blowing themselves up. Mayhem, I can't blame you for ranting. I have such respect for transit drivers. I got rid of my car last May & can't imagine going back to being behind the wheel with all the stupid drivers out there.

Maybe you could write a letter to the editor of your paper (maybe clear it with your bosses first?)?

Working in selling news releases, I'd reckon your community newspaper would give a letter like that some prominence. You've already made WI say he's going to talk to his child (& Alasse just had first-hand experience with it :eek: ) b/c of your rant.

A Pakistani cab driver was just about to receive his Canadian citizenship a few weeks ago when he was killed by two teen spoiled arseholes (one was driving a Mercedes, the other a BMW, I think) racing down the street. It sparked serious outrage in the papers & they reduced the speed limit on that street.

I don't want to suggest that kids aren't dumb, but there is more going on. At that age, they're actually morons (http://www.azcentral.com/families/education/articles/1025edbrain25.html) because their brains just aren't developed enough.
Of course, if we weeded out some of the truly dumb ones... :D
