If you put in your addy (I used my neighbor's just in case it was a scam :D) then it shows you a map with where all the sickos live in conjunction to where your home is.

we've done it already. i don't think it was that site but we can't get addresses here anyway. they did have mug shots.

That's amazing. I entered the address of a nearby school and there were a half dozen or more withing a 2 mile radius. And we're a small town where you don't expect to find more than maybe one. :(

Yikes. Glad our kids aren't small anymore.

I did the same thing as db. I typed in the address where my little girl goes to school and there are 7 within 5 miles and we're a less than 10,000 town.

We in Canada are not given information on where sex offenders are living in the community unless the police cheif in my city goes against their privacy and allows the info out. This happens if the offender is still deemed to be a thread to society, especially noted and outed are paedophiles and is happening more often these days.

In my city we have to have a halfway house for parolees of crimes whether sexual or not. It is mandated by Corrections Canada and the facility is run by our local Salvation Army.

It is located in the heart of downtown and everyone knows where it is but we are not privvy to know who is residing in there most times.

There seems to be more and more of these indiviuals reoffending and so our city is trying very hard to get rid of this service from here. Seems we became the drop off point after the halfway house in Toronto got a very bad rep for allowing too much freedom to their "clients" and one went out and murdered the same day he was released.

I wish Canada would implement a listing for our people to see and be forewarned if one moves into our area. Maybe once victims are given the same rights as the offender this will change....

I put in my address...and found that we have a newly-convicted offender literally right up the street, in the same building as a friend of mine. When I told her about it, she visited the site and realized that the guy is the father of a child in her son's class. I can't even imagine.

In the case I just participated in, the defendant was labeled a sexual predator (:D I pushed for predator not offender) which has much steeper consequences including never being able to legally obtain porn or to have a PO Box to name just a very few!

We have lots too Steph but the sexual offenders go to the main one I mentioned.

That happened to us too. I pulled his pic up because he lives in my neighborhood, showed my kid and he says, "Mom that is ______'s dad" :( So then I had to discuss with him about how she must feel and why he could never tell a soul at school.

Not all is what it seems to be;

I know a woman in her mid 30s with two children who was raped by a minor. she did not report the rape or go to the police for a couple of weeks. Without the rape kit or other proof it was her word against the boys. The boy said that she molested him. She was charged with child molestation, she plead 'no contest' and is now a registered sex offender.
