I think that guy is senile.....

It seems everytime he opens his mouth he shoots himself in the foot.

LOL...he was even calling for an assasination a while back.

Yep, the assassination of the Venezualean president

The first para says a lot: his stroke was divine punishment for "dividing God's land"

How dare he say that? Did God call him on his crazy phone? It's disgusting.

The man had a stroke!

As Jon Stewart said last night, "Divine Punishment?"

The studio was silent as a large photo of large Sharon was shown.

Stewart: Could it be stress, weight & too many latkes?

I do believe the cheese has slipped off his cracker!

Hm, what a co-incidence...the administration gets into incerasingly hot water, and then Pat Robertson says something so totally off the wall about an issue that's completely irrelevant to the administration's current political problems, that it's:
a) Distracting
b) Makes the administration look moderate by comparison.

Of course, it's not always Robertson who plays the role of right-wing nut. Just this time.

Comments like that go a long way towards explaining his success as an evangelist and his failure in politics.

There’s something to that. Thomas Tusser had a useful quote to cover it.

Pantyfanatic,

There’s something to that. Thomas Tusser had a useful quote to cover it.

"A fool and his money may soon be parted" but it is far more complex than that.

Many are foolish, not fools, but lonely souls lost in search of some form of human care and contact. For some, it is via these preachers who promise them the best of this world through Christ and beyond in the afterlife that they feel more connected to the world and to their god. That is one area of thought on people who send off these guys their money.

For others it is no more than tithing to their church of choice.

Either way these contributors are believers in their faith, no more different than anyone else is.....unfortunate for most, but that's free enterprise, I mean freedom of religion for you! ;)

In 1960, Pat bought a struggling UHF television station for $37,000 and gave it an evangelistic format. It would be the beginnings of CBN -- the Christian Broadcasting Network. He launched a religious talk show in 1963 and called it the 700 Club. It showcased lots of trippy religious stuff, including glossolalia -- speaking in tongues. This was later removed from the show in the 1980s.
In addition to being a media mogul, Robertson became well-known as a faith healer. In one of his 1981 sermons, thankfully preserved on videotape, Pat told his congregation:

"Satan has gone! God has just healed somebody! A hernia has been healed! Several people are being healed of hemorrhoids and varicose veins! People with flat feet! God is doing just great things to you!" :)

(and yeah, I wish people didn't send them money. The Vatican just sent olive oil and other things to the 'soup kitchen' in my 'hood. HOW MUCH DID IT COST TO SEND THAT? Could there be a better way to transfer funds? OK, I'm kinda thinking it's cool to be using olive oil from there but still!)

Pat Robertson sings the same old song it appears....

A few years back he was quoted as saying that if Haiti hadn't kicked out the French two hundred years ago they wouldn't have had such bad luck.

Geez, I had no idea I was poking a hornets' nest with a stick when I started this...

...well, ok, I knew, but I didn't expect 3 pages of piling on so quickly...

Anyway, I'm reminded of a comment from a few years back: "Jerry Falwell [& other fundimentalist types] says there will be no Jews or homosexuals in Heaven...that means in the Afterlife, you'll have to go to Hell to catch a good Broadway play"

This is the same SOB who advocated the assassination of a democratically elected president of another country on his horrid little tv show. The FCC did absolutely nothing about it. I guess they were too tired from going beserk over Janet Jackson's left titty. The man is absolutely whacko and his religious freedumb stops at my front door.Heh heh,I finally found a good use for the perental locks built into the new tv sets.
