View Full Version : Saying Good-bye

I know it's not supposed to be easy but I really hate it. How can I love a group of peeps for so long, seeing them everyday, chatting with them, taking care of them and then just *poof* be gone? I'm going to miss my babies from my internship.

How do you say goodbye? Can you remember an emotional exit that has impacted your life or the way you say good-bye? Kids are resilient. I'll moon over them much longer than they will me.

Goodbyes suck... I avoid them at all costs. I hate having to be emotional over leaving.

Lil, you just do the Mother Duck bit, pat them on the head and launch them into the pond you prepared them for.

It's not goodbye, just see you all around.

I am absolutely hopeless at goodbyes, my oldest daughter was leaving the nest and moving to the big smoke about 35mins from us, we arranged to have her 21st the weekend before she was leaving, anyway every thing was fine up to the point where I had to make a speech and talk about her growing up and saying goodbye and wishing her well in the big smoke, well I got so dame emotional that I recon all 55 people at the party were crying with me, silly when you think of it, its not like I’ll never see her again. but it was funny afterwards when I pictured everyone else crying along with me.
so all I can offer you is you have to cut the cord and hope that your time with them is something they will remember the rest of their life.

Not fond of goodbyes either. People I've worked with ... saying goodbye was tough. When I loft Japan to return to the states back in '58, I really missed my friends over there. When I moved from Decatur, IL to the Peoria area, I really missed some of our friends and neighbors. Lot's of times this has happened in my life, but it doesn't get easier I'm afraid.

Saying goodbye, going away
Seems like goodbye's such a hard thing to say
Touching a hand, wondering why
It's time for saying goodbye

Saying goodbye, why is it sad?
Makes us remember the good times we've had
Much more to say, foolish to try
It's time for saying goodbye

Dont want to leave, but we both know
Sometimes it's better to go
Somehow I know we'll meet again
Not sure quite where, and I don't know just when
You're in my heart, so until then
Wanna smile, wanna cry
Saying goodbye

La la la la la la la la
It's time for saying goodbye

I've never been in your shoes directly Lilith, and only you will know how to handle it best when the moment is upon you. I often find that sometimes saying thank you as I say good-bye makes everyone feel a bit better about the situation. Let the babies know that you are thankful for the time you spent with them and now you are more prepared for all the other babies you are going to cross in the future. Let them know how important they have been to your learning and that you hope that they found the time and lessons to be just as important and rewarding.

I never say goodbye...always only see ya, or so long or catch ya later!

I only ever said goodbye once...and it was really a whisper, "Goodbye for now Mommy...Let go and I'll see ya on the other side". Never got a chance to say that to Dad.

My point is...goodbye is forever, and what's the point of saying that all day long if the chances are you WILL see that special someone[s] again?

But, I know how ya feel!

My thoughts are with you for a special tomorrow filled with very little sorrow!

Lil... tomorrow when you're wishing your best to your babies, know that we're all right there with you holding your hand and giving you strength. ((((Hugs))))))

Well ... I just ran the full gamit of emotions .... like Alasse, I thought the goodbye was about Pixies ..... what a relief I felt, and then I just wanted to send hugs ... it's hard saying goodbye, especially to people who we really put our heart and soul into our time with them .... and then the reminder that this is bringing you almost to the threshold of the completion of a goal you've been working on VERY hard and long!!! ... Congrats on that .... hugs about the goodbye and well ... the only way I've ever managed to make goodbyes ok ... I just try to make sure that the people I love know I love them ... and I know you've given them that! :)
