Oh ((((Aqua)))...warm thoughts and my deepest condolensces to you and your family! I hope for you a short term mourning period and a long term sense of all the loving and happy memories that Steve brought to your family!
Cancer? To say it evokes fear and the sense of thievery! Long term battles with it can drain a family...including the one who is fighting the battle. He/she doesn't want the family to be burdened when we all know we'd gladly take that burden from them, if we could, to spare them the pain of the fight! Life NEVER seems fair at deaths door, no matter the circumstance! But we all know that death is a part of life, albeit the final part. How we get to the finality is never our choice...and dare I say, ever our fault. It HAS to happen! We can't hold it back! We can only hope it isn't painful!!!
Can I tell you (from personal experience with my mother) that cancer IS/CAN BE/IS NOT NECESSARILY painful when nearing the end...but at the very end it is like any other death. I'll call it euphoric. I watched my mother go from pain to euphoria in a matter of two days. It helped all of her survivors to know this and/or see it in her.
As it concerns a cancer sufferer, to understand and believe this ^^^ can help many who have traveled the road to a loved ones death. They are at peace...out of pain and suffering...and we now have to find a way to make peace with ourselves! After that happens, the happy memories flow!

Aqua, I'm very sorry to hear of the loss you and your wife have suffered. I hope you know that I am here if you need to talk hun [[[[[[[[[[[[[HUGS]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]
Thank you all for your hugs, support, and encouraging words.
I'd just like to clarify... it wasn't the cancer itself that took Steve, although it played a heavy hand in this outcome. He fought and beat cancer several years ago, but that fight took a toll. Steve had a morphine pump in his side for years as well as many other health issues to deal with. It was in fact a complication from one of these other issues that proved to be his downfall.
He did have a good handle on his pain management so I do believe he did not suffer greatly.
I am grateful for having you all at my side... it means a lot to me.
I love you all.

Easy to see that lots of people love you Aqua .... undoubtedly because you are a loving man ... so sorry about the loss of a man of great worth in your life... I can empathize because I feel the loss of my stepfather's death still very deeply, but am grateful for the loving wonderful man he was and the memories he left all of us ... I know you and yours will find the same type of comfort in time ... until then ... sending hugs, warm thoughts and an internet shoulder to cry on/grope, etc. anytime. ((((((((Aqua)))))))
