Can you believe it ... we own four cars and in less than a week ... all four have now had problems.

Last Wednesday, we were going to take our old Mazda MX3 in to get an oil change and general going over when one of the belts broke on it and we had to have it towed in. :(

Then on Friday, our Oldsmobile Achieva that my youngest son drives also had a belt break and had to be towed in. Apparently a part broke and it's on order (suppose to be in today).

My wife and I went over to Indianapolis on the weekend for the baptism of our new grandson and as we were leaving to come back, the car started making a noise like a tire going flat. To make a long story short. After calling a tow truck because we couldn't (in the rain) find anything in the tires and they didn't appear to be going flat, the driver of the truck found the front left wheel had all the lug nuts loose. Within a few miles, it's like we would have lost the wheel and been in an accident along a back, dark country road with no shoulders. (Thank heavens for this problem).

Then, last night, my wife's Chrysler wouldn't start when she went to pick up our son (the one who drives the Olds). We're going to try it this morning (it's parked a mile from here), and if it starts ...take it in (we think it might be a fuel filter). If it doesn't ... another towing!

I hate cars.

:(

But ... on the other side ... no one's hurt and I still can log on to Pixies.

Life is good. :D

WOW.......... it's funny that you should post this NOW!! I hardly ever have car problems but,,,,,,,,,,,,

The service engine light came on this weekend so son took it to garage yesterday..... I don't know the diagnosis because..................

we took the wife's Buick to work yesterday and got there safely. In late afternoon, I had to go to the park (no not to take pix of DB) and as I approached red light, I discovered that I had no brakes. Thru the red light I went! The good part of this story is that I was to take a right at that light going down a 1/2 mile long hill................ with a very busy intersection at the bottom....... that could have been a problem!!!!

So yes DB, we've had a few interesting days, but at least we can log in and talk about it! I for one am glad we are both here...hehe

Not that I'm promoting this behaviour in the olden days...but at least when your horse broke down you could shoot it! :rolleyes2

my roomie's tranny is bad in her buick. yesterday, roomie's kid decided to throw a kicking tantrum while they were going down the road and the kid kicked the gear shift into reverse. The tranny is dead and it even torqued the engine so bad that it broke a motor mount ( i believe that was how her fiance' said it)

Outcome: Roomie's buying a car from a friend today
Kid is grounded for a looooooong time!
Buick RIP

dicksbro & Coaster,

Sorry to learn of your car problems! Glad that no one was hurt. We have come to rely on these conveniences, haven't we?

I got a kick out of the guy at the garage we have servicing done. My wife was relating all the troubles and he told her that it happens all the time. If one car in a family has problems, the others act up, too. He said, "I really believe cars talk to each other."

Coaster, I'll tell our cars not to call yours in the future. :(

:D

LOL osuche. When we called yesterday, they (AAA) decided to put the Chrysler towing under my name since my wife used her name on previous calls ... otherwise, she would have used up her "limit."

Anyway, we'll have three of our four cars back today. Got the Oldsmobile back yesterday and the Chrysler this morning. The Mazda, we'll going to delay putting it back on the street until next month. :)

(Oh yeah, I still hate cars :D)

Funny you should bring it up at this time, I just a similar exp. I was wondering how to post...we have been so poor & deep in debt that we can't afford to commit to a new(er) car loan, but at the same time it seems that the wife's 12 yr old LeBaron breaks down with enough frequency that we've actually built a new one, one piece at a time...in any case, she finally got so fed up with her car's unreliablity that she declared that she would start driving my van to work, & I could take my chances with her old clunker...after 2 days, the van stopped dead on her on her way home, the victim of a broken timing belt...when I picked her up, I informed her that she was a jinx, which amused her not at all...presently I am back driving the van...

Oh (((db)))...and (((Coaster too)))...

shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I've got a 1999 Dodge Durango that hasn't given me a lick of a problem to date! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I'm NOT bragging! I'm scared to death cause the odds say that this miraculous behavior can't possibly go on too much longer...ya know?

so shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Don't let any of your cars talk to my truck!

Have to say there is something to the "you learn something new everyday" saying. I didn't know triple A had a limit! Geezzzzzzzzzz! Haven't had to call them [yet], but my day is coming...I can feel it!

Glad to hear the well didn't come off. Speaking from experience, that is really unpleasant.
Good luck getting them all fixed. Maybe this means you won't have any trouble with any of them for a while now.

I know I grew to hate my car - when my monthly repair bills were consistently getting to be $1,000+, I determined a loan on a new one would be cheaper. Now, the new car - love it.
