Hermann Bondi, one of three scientists who formulated the “Steady State” theory of the universe has died in Cambridge, England. He was 85 years old.

In 1948, Drs Bondi, Gold, and Hoyle presented their theory that the universe has always existed in a steady state. The other cosmology was “The Big Bang”.

Dr. Bondi was director-general of the European Space Research Organization from 1967 to 1971, and served the HM government as chief scientific adviser to the MoD from 1971 to 1977.

Can't say as I ever heard of him (dunno why cause I usually know a tidbit of something when it comes to the sciences...*shrug*), but it's somehow always sad when a "pioneer" dies.

I tend to lean towards the theory of the Big Bang...so that might splain why I haven't shown interest in his theory.

Regardless...R.I.P. Mr. Bondi!
