JD...I didn't care for him at all at first but he's growing on me....like a fungus :p
I just don't see how they can possibly replace their deceased lead singer.
I haven't watched it but I have seen the commercials.
Personally I kinda think it.......oh hell, never mind lol.

I think it would be horrible but they don't appear to necessarily want someone like him. They have quite a few ladies in the group. I think the band just still wants to play. I personally think a name change would be a good idea, something to reflect a new beginning yet still maintaining their roots.

I kinda like the show, i haven't really watched it enough to know their names... but i think i missed the part of the show that explain why dave is there
I mean it's like he does most the talking, but the band is suppose to be making the decision???
Yep, and it's funny ... though I love music ... I've never thought of myself as a ROCKER .. I enjoy a lot of rock, but some of it is too hard for my personal taste, but I've really enjoyed this one .... don't know that I've picked a favorite yet .. still getting to know the different people, voices, personalities ...and Nicole ... I didn't hear a formal explanation about why Dave is there, but he made a comment on one of the episodes that he knew how it felt to be chosen to step in as the lead singer for a fully formed successful group ... I think the band members seem pretty mellow, maybe they just wanted someone for the show with a bit more "pop". :)
Tonight's show was just a 30 minute one ... kind of bridging between performances ... tomorrow night (after Big Brother) they will be doing another 60 minute one with the performances ... and I presume sometime later in the week another 30 minute elimination one (after the votes are counted from Tuesday night's performances). That's my guess anyway.

I think Dave is just one of the hosts but it is weird that he's there. He joined the Chili Peppers when they were already well established and had trouble with it. Like fzzy said, that might be why he's there.
I think they're all really good singers and I can't decide who my fave is.
I also can't remember the last time I didn't watch anything but crappy reality shows. :D

Why am I thinking that INXS was based out of Oz originally? Hadn't watched the show until last night, on orders (sort of) from my guitar player...he seems to have been hooked, & wants to share the experience with everybody...I too, have been sorta creeped out by the idea that INXS would want to replace Michael, & more so by the fact that they would jump on the Idol bandwagon & do it on tv, with the world watching & voting...somehow I can't imagine the Doors doing that to replace Morrison...or would that be another sign of the apocalypse?
Didn't the Beatles do that after Paul died?
Didn't know Paul was dead?
Check with Scotz or one of the other Musical Pixies Now let me get this straight, Paul is dead, & Elvis is alive?
Paul did not die.....he was the walrus...koo koo ka choo
John was the Walrus originally, but in "Glass Onion" he said "the walrus was Paul"...later, he said that line was thrown in as a sop to Paul, as they were feuding constantly behind the scenes while pretending to the outside world that they weren't about to break up...

Yes, I'm loving this series as well ... watch it on Sunday on VH1 (or is it MTV?) then Tuesday nights are the best ... and Wednesday night .... wish they could come up for a reason to show it on the other nights of the week as well :)
Mig is wonderful, Jordis is great as well .... funny thing, I really like JD .... if I had to deal with him in my real life ... don't think I'd like him nearly as well, but find him fascinating waiting to learn what he'll do next, etc.
Lilith

I like JD but would hate to try to work in something as collaborative as a band with him. I was very glad to hear Mig make a comment when the band backhandedly praised JD.
Mig was great last night as was Jordis. Actually there were a lot of great performances, but I don't think JD was up to par last night.
Oh, and I loved what Dave said after Mig finished his song. I had a similar experience. :)

Wasn't it cool of Mig to share the encore with Marty and Jordis? I tell Ya, that made a favorable impression as to the kind of guy he is. Of course with the competition... who knows who's out next... I'm hoping JD... he's just been my least favorite the whole time. I'd have picked Brandon over him.
Ah Bear .... re: JD ... I think he's probably the most talented overall ... vocal, understanding of how the music should sound, etc. ... but he's definitely short on the social skills side of things! :)
And I so agree about Mig and how cool it was for him to share the encore ... it does say a lot about him ... but, I think he's done several things that say what a really great guy he seems to be!
I've officially decided JD is better suited to be an Elvis impersonator... maybe he used to be one. I don't know, but he tries to hard and that is a big turn off for me.
I will say that when Jordis came out I wanted to spend a weekend trying to get her pregnant with Lil's baby... and doing other assorted nasty things with her. I hate to add though that after she started singing last night I wanted to do it while wearing earplugs. Not sure what the deal was but she sounded pretty bad throughout the song.
I think TY had the best performance but I predict they will have Deanna sing an encore because it was an original song.
Meanwhile, if anyone needs me I'll be sexxin' up Jordis in the dressing room.... :p
Why is it that, even though the songs are basically forced on the people, when somebody sings one that isn't an INXS-style song, INXS asks why that song was chosen?
Marty took "I Alone" last night and did a very good job, I thought. Dave Navarro liked it. But the INXS guys snubbed it, as usual.
If they don't want to hear recent songs, why do they add them to the song pool?
There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours much more.

Jordis had a bad night, maybe worried about trying to keep the song original and with her voice I don't know why... she could have blown it out in her own style and captured the audience. Mig kicked ass I think, as usual. Marty did good too but he was right in his stride. Ty's showing some serious versatility and that's soooomething to consider but I'm still pulling with Mig & Jordis. Jordis has what it takes if Aqua doesn't distract her too much. LOL

Has anyone noticed that Deanna has gone from femmey folk singer to blond bomb. She looks like she's drop a 10-15 pounds and her girls are hoisted and exposed all the time now. I wanna know who is doing her hair. I think the transformation has been astounding but I wish she'd just go next.
Jordis, my fave, sucked ass last night *moves out of the way as Aqua comes screeching up to the thread at the mere mention of sucking ass and Jordis* Anyhoooooooo I loved Marty. There was not one INXS type song sung last night so they can bite me.

Booyah! The truth comes out. LOL
JD was an Elvis impersonator for 2 or 3 years and last night he did an Elvis song. To his credit, he didn't do all the Elvis moves I've seen him do previously but I don't think he did very good.
Marty and Jordis were superb and out of the rest of the pack I think I'd give Suzie the edge to round out the top three.

I was really unhappy to hear Ty's remarks. boy I can't wait to see sunday on VH1...looks like they are done putting up with JD's shit. I thought Jordis was a gonner. I love her but she lacks self-esteem, professionalism, and has trouble with grace under pressure. That being said, I still want Aqua to have my baby with her.
I'm wondering if these guys are held to any contractual obligations post show. Does anyone know? I would think that there are 982475754764578156 bands trying to scoop these singers up.

I thought the same thing Lil.. I was upset to hear an inference towards race.. :( I get tired of things ending up like that.. gender, race, sexual preference.. how about - you just aren't right for our band and leave it at that? Dunno...
I also agree about J.D. I think he will be gone soon.. I have a feeling that the guys are seeing through his kiss ass stuff - he isn't genuine to me at all. I haven't heard about any contractual obligations - I would think if bands didn't want them (not sure why they wouldn't) that who is left will be able to strike out on their own in some way.
I thought I heard on one of the shows that the "payoff" for the winner includes them laying down the tracks on the new album and touring with the band for 1 year. I could be wrong though.
It was time for Ty to go tonight ... and as others have said .... I was very disappointed with his comments about "we all know why he's been in the bottom 3" ... wah, wah, wah! I think the INXS guys were right that none of the 3 from tonight did a particularly great presentation ... I think if Ty had done so and the other 2 hadn't, he still would have been there ... I think they have been making there choices as they should, based first on their overall performance for that evening and then all things being relatively equal, who is the one that fits their band the least ...
I also think that from this point on ... who ends up in the bottom 3 each week won't have that much to do with their performance that week ... ALL of them are excellent performers and unless someone has a really OFF night, their performances are all likely to be excellent.
having said all that .... my wish for the final FINAL top 3 ... Mig, Jordis and JD or Mig, Suzie and JD .... I'm not a fan of Marty at all ... even with his "softer" sound of this past week .... he just spends too much time screaming instead of singing .... and then there's that (previously mentioned by me) psychotic thing! LOL!!! :)
Lilith

I'm not a fan of Marty at all ... even with his "softer" sound of this past week .... he just spends too much time screaming instead of singing .... and then there's that (previously mentioned by me) psychotic thing! LOL!!! :)
Which is of course why I adore him :p :D
I agree that, globally even, blacks, people of African descent, are under-respresented in the world of rock. Rock being the key work. I did not find Ty to be a true ROCK singer and I consider INXS on the POP fringe anyway. If Ty's claim is a lack of support from the typical rock fan base, then he can't blame his color, because good performers of all races have been accepted in Rock, when they have chosen to enter that arena (Lenny Kravitz for one). If his bitch was that he wished ROCK had a larger black fan base, I see his point. But I think it is inaccurate to say that the lack of a black rock fan base is due to ROCK's unacceptance of black performers. It was a cop out to me.
I was wondering if you guys would be as disappointed in Ty's remarks as I was. It's basically come down to the fact that people have pretty much chosen who they want to win the whole shebang (for the most part) and are voting as such instead of on performance.
Two people that I was watching the show with last night both commented about Jordis having a lack of self-esteem. I was to busy thinking of different ways I could remove her clothing. :D
I couldn't believe JD whining about Suzie saying that he was in the studio a long time. Dude didn't prepare and he WAS in there a long time. WTF is this 'You had no right to say that' crap? Then he gave a very lackluster performance and I think if Ty hadn't messed up on the words slightly in the song it could very well have been JD going home.
Marty did a bit of his 'scary conductor' thing in his encore and he does get a little psychotic, but he has really changed my thinking with his performances as I didn't care for him much at all when I first saw him, what, 5 weeks ago. Now I'm leaning toward him winning it. He's very expressive and I dig that.
BigBear57
09-01-2005, 01:00 PM
I agree Ty's remarks were uncalled for but probably the result of being extremely disappointed. The dude has talent, he'll find a band I have no doubt. I can almost see any of the remaining vocalists winning it. I'm sure it's all up to the band and what they're looking for. Marty's talented too but from my perspective it's a narrower range than Suzie, Mig or Jordis. I tend to lean toward Jordis simply because she's young and can develop into whatever she puts her mind to. Suzie's powerful and driven and could easily do the same thing. I can't wait to see who gets it and I'm enjoying the shaow as it goes along.. I'm betting JD's asskissing has gotten old and he'll be the next one with a bus ticket home. If Aqua's going to claim Jordis, I'll take Suzie or if Brooke's not too busy she's a peach too.

thanks for the update BigBear - it doesn't air here for another 45 minutes ... so you took the stress out of it for me. Jordis is a great singer, but last night she was even less confident then the previous couple of shows, you could see it in her eyes ... she'll be doing great things, just needs some time to gain a bit of experience in life (at least that's my opinion) :)

She said flat out that she was wondering if she was right for the band anymore. That was the final straw in her downward self esteem spiral.
:( :( :(
She's gone. *sniff*
But I figured it was gonna happen. Her voice just doesn't suit the band and I think maybe she realized this and was bowing out. When they asked if she was right for the band she said, "I hope so?". Guess I'll be stuck googling her pics for awhile to get my Jordis fix.
I also think Marty was somewhat snubbed last night... he got a very minor part in the song 'Us' and he really should have had the encore, although I hate to admit that JD had the next best original song, IMO. But Marty didn't get much attention at all during the show.
Suzie gave me chills singing Never Tear Us apart and again I must admit that JD did a really good job on Mystify.

I missed that part. :( I noticed Mig's face when JD was the last person called out for the bottom 3. I think he really felt he should have been there.
Btw, they had Jordis in a live chat on MSN today... I told her she was beautiful. They had it set up so you could only see the questions/comments she was responding too, so I was probably one of several to do so, but I'm sure she's a better person knowing I feel that way. :p

I voted too. Not that many times though. :p
Reflections on performances...
Suzie was really good, but her first song didn't suit her too well.
JD was probably the best I've ever seen him. His song Pretty Vegas is quite good and I loved what he did with the money bag during his second song.
Marty just plain out-creeped me. Dammit. :p (Do not read that as creeped me out!) Loved hearing him do Trees acoustic and I had goosebumps during Creep. I also loved how he stood nearly stock still during that song yet still managed mesmerize and command attention.
Mig is great but I think he arranged Paint it Black to sound like it was being performed in a musical. He needed to downplay his theatrical side and instead he threw it up on a billboard with spotlights. Overlooking that aspect he was awesome.
All four had great performances but I think Marty was the man to beat last night, followed ever so closely by (I hate to admit it) JD... or as Mig says, JuhDuh. LOL

I concur with your assessment and would like to add that I need to have wild freaky monkey sex with Marty immediately.

I think JD is the best fit.....Mig is a no go for me and sad to say it, I don't see a woman singing with INXS, so Susie is a no go.
I am pretty sure it will come down to Marty and JD.....both in butt kissing and the competition.
But JD's voice and look is the best fit in my opinion.
PS Pixie - haven't seen you before, like your icon and saw some of yours pics....nice ;-)
Yes, I think it will come down to JD and Marty as well .... he seemed sooooo "comfortable" when doing the INXS song tonight .... personally, I'd like to see JD win ... BigBear ... he's a nicer/softer JD now ....

OK......... got to admit that I've only caught the last 3 Wed. performances............... and I predict Marty
He's got the look, performance style and voice to fit well and yet lead INXS forward....
we'll see!
Wow... I actually felt that Suzie performed better than Mig last night. Obviously the band thought differently, but I think it's down to Marty and JD. JD has made it really hard to dislike him the past couple weeks as his attitude seems to have taken a 180. He still had some Elvis coming through in his performance last night, but other than that he sounded great. At this point, I am making no predictions for the outcome.

I don't think her dismissal had anything to do with her performance. No one likes her, that much. She has been in the bottom 3, 6 times. Way too many times and her stuff is not as popular on the MSN downloads. Mig has been in the bottom 3 once. Somebody likes him. INXS would be foolish not to listen to the music buying public.
True, very true.
Speaking of Suzie... did she overplay the gender factor this last week or is it just me? It seemed like nearly every clip was how she had to prove something about women or stay in it for women and so on. She might have a point, but it seemed like she overdid it. Then again, mayhaps it was only editing that brought it to the forefront. *shrugs*

09-15-2005, 08:53 PM
Reality TV is nothing like reality.....its all editing, basically writers of sitcoms or whatever type of how have been replaced by editors who have hundreds of hours of footage, only a hour of a show including commercial time to fill up, and therefore, a lot of wiggle room to decide who they want each character to be and who they want us to like or dislike.
Anyhoot, don't even know why I was replying anymore...oh yea, this is it.
I think Mig has been the worst for a while in my opinion, and you even see in his performances that he is not the favorite from the crowd reaction.
Is it possible that maybe the favorites (being Marty and JD) split votes, while Mig or anyone else hasn't had to really split votes with anyone so has been able to stick around longer? (like what happened two seasons ago in American Idol)

I'm happy mainly because he's a Canuck.
Do you really think Dave Navarro will take the runner-up's call when he asks him to play guitar in his new band? :rolleyes2
From Marty's Chat today on MSN...
jewelliett in Onstage_1 asks: What do u think about Jordis ...and do you have any plans on maybe writing something with her?
MSNLive_Star says: Joridis and i discussed wiriting songs for her record. She and I connected on the songwriting level with music we dig and what people want to hear.
MSNLive_Star says: I'll be meeting Jordis probably this weekend and working on songs for her new record.
So Lil... you got any plans this weekend? ;)
:D

Here's his response to that...
LV2NLRVixen in Onstage_1 asks: Dave Navarro loves ya and I could tell he meant it when he said.. Call me lets jam... Think you two might ever get together and do any music.
MSNLive_Star says: i hung out with dave last night at the House of Blues and we talked about it. This experience blows my mind-- to record with Dave Navarro.

A little bit. He was sounding a bit like Michael too... which is something that bugs me. He seems to put too much of other people into his performance and I see him being a 'Michael clone' of sorts. I think in the long run the bands needs someone that doesn't depend on acting like someone else, although he does seem to have good songwriting abilities. *shrugs*

Even though I was rooting for Marty, I am kinda glad that he didn't win. I think he would have been stifled by INXS. I believe he and the Lovehammers are going to be very popular and will have the ability to strike out on their own.

So apparently, "Easy Easy" was supposed to be the first single - it was recorded by JD, Mig and Marty.....
However, after all the success of JD's song, "Pretty Vegas" - they decided to release that instead - I heard it on the radio this morning.....

Rumour du jour - currently listening to Suzie McNeil on local radio - and she has said that it looks like there will be a Rockstar INXS tour in November (the finalists etc) - not too many details yet but keep your ears open....
Also - Suzie said she'll be back in LA next week to start her album....
Tomorrow I will be purchasing tickets to see INXS... with opening act The Lovehammers! :D
They'll be here on January 19th, the second stop on their tour. They are playing a show at the Virgin Megastore next Monday, the 17th, but their tour officially begins in Vancouver, BC on the 18th of January.
Sorry Lil... I didn't see any dates for Florida on the schedule. BUT, it did say that schedule was the first leg of their North American Tour. Hopefully a Florida date will be announced.

I am wishing for that hardcore!
Looking forward to a report on your evening .... have a wonderful time!
Last night’s show was simply awesome! Both Lovehammers (http://www.lovehammers.com) and INXS were incredible and played highly energetic sets. The Lovehammers came out first, to a full capacity house (which isn’t usually the case for the opening act), and performed a set mainly featuring songs from their upcoming CD due to be released this coming Tuesday, Jan 24th. They played one cover song, Ring of Fire, and just plain kicked ass through the whole show. Some of my faves were The Tunnel, Eyes Can’t See, and Call of Distress. Marty was very much Marty... scary conductor and all. After not being searched or anything of the sort at the door I was kicking myself for not bringing a camera. (Later I would realize just how big a folly this would prove to be.) Also, during their performance Marty made it clear that he had been in the band since he was 13 and it’s not ‘Marty Casey & Lovehammers’, it's not about Marty Casey, it’s just Lovehammers... four friends that love playing music together. He was also very gracious to INXS saying they were treating them so good on the tour. Of course they finished the set with an amped up, extended version of Trees. They were just so fucking good. :D
After getting most of the Lovehammers equipment off the stage (there was a black curtain behind them effectively cutting the stage in half, which didn’t leave a lot of room in front ) a 20:00 countdown clock was projected onto a screen onstage. As it neared 00:00 the anticipation grew and when the timer ran out the curtain dropped and the band started straight into Suicide Blond. As someone who really disliked JD I have to admit he is a great fit for the band. He sounded great and had really good presence. If you’re of the inclination that JD is hot, you would have been very hot and bothered by the end of the third song. I was surprised that they didn’t play a lot from the new album but really stuck to their old hits. Disappear, New Sensation, Need You Tonight, Never Tear Us Apart, Kick, Original Sin, What You Need, and more I’m sure I don’t remember right now. They played Pretty Vegas, Devil’s Party, Hungry, Afterglow (One of my fave new songs), and Never Let you Go from the new album. All in all a very full set.
Cont’d…

con't???????? where !!!!!!!!??????????????
It's coming... just about done. ;)
Then you can kill me. :o
So they’ve done the encore, the house light have come up, and everyone is making their way out, but Mrs. Aqua and I hung back, letting the place clear out. We took our time heading out the door and by the time we actually exited the building the show had been over about 20-30 minutes and as we walked to where we parked I noticed a small crowd by the outside stage doors. I coaxed the wife into waiting a few to see if Marty or any of the Lovehammers would be coming out and a few minutes later Dino, Bobby, and Billy (Bass, Drums, and Guitar respectively) came out and walked across the street to their bus. No sign of Marty but I still wanted to thank the guys for the show so I walked up to each one, shook their hand and said thanks. They were all very casual and gracious and took time to talk with me for a few minutes before spending some time with another fan or signing autographs. Billy talked to me for some time (maybe 10 minutes) before excusing himself to mingle with the other people wanting to have a chance to get an autograph or whatever. So a few more minutes pass and Marty finally makes his way to the bus. :D I must have been in the magic spot because he walked right up to me first and asked me and the Missus what our names were and I shook his hand saying thanks for the show. Then I pulled him into a hug… :D very brief, but as we finished the embrace I kissed him. :o Just on the cheek, but I kissed Marty Casey!!!!! After that I had the whole band sign my shirt and then INXS came out to get into a big van. No clue why they didn’t get into one of the buses, but JD ran over to Marty and gave him a big hug and they exchanged a few conspiratorial words in hushed tones, laughed, and then JD was ushered back to the van. It was pretty late by this point so we went back to the car to head home… with me feeling giddy all the way… and anxious to share my night with you all, but especially Lil.
