The “Golden Bear”, Jack Nicklaus could not make the cut at The Open in St. Andrews yesterday, but the 65 year old still birdied the last hole in his last tournament!

I don’t play golf, but from what I’ve heard, Mr. Nicklaus was among the best ever.

I am in no way a fan of golf... more due to lack of knowledge than for any other reason... and in spite of my lack of knowledge, this man has caught my attention... not just because he appears to be one of the best of his sport... but MORE importantly.. from all I have read... he also appears to be one of the best of his gender.. not only as a man.. but as a father.. and grandfather... He has had a rough year on a personal level... and I am sure that he has other priorities in his life now...

Jack Nicklaus is the personification of how a great champion should conduct himself. I do play golf and have admired Nicklaus forever. Winning 20 major championships (including his two U.S. Amateur titles), not to mention all of the times he came in second, stands as one of the greatest sporting careers in history.

It was hard to see him quit tournament golf but feel he is doing the right thing as he still has some ability left.
