View Full Version : Why is it still funny???

I almost put this under [What Made You Smile Today?], but thought it deserved a thread of it's own.

I had an inspiration to visit my favorite novelty shop today :rolleyes2 ……………… and came back wondering why so many of the OLD classic gimmicks became classic. YES, the rubber chicken and clacking teeth are so camp, and we smile and roll our eyes as we shake our heads, but it DID make us smile. :D I no longer look at the singing fish with much beyond apathy at best now. The spring snakes in the peanut brittle can still brings a chuckle for some reason.

What makes classic, classic?

PF aren't they classics because people still fall for them? Isn't it still hilarious to see someone blush when they sit on a whoopey cushion?

Does anyone remember those "crystal" growing kits that grew the crystals that were all neon colors? lol

I remember having one of those when I was a kid and just being totally amazed....I had sea monkeys too but those things GROSSED ME OUT and I ended up dumping them in the fish tank...LOL

I haven't seen one of those crystal kits in years, I'm sure you can still get them. Sort of like sea monkeys, every kid has probably had some at one point in their life! :D

I've heard some people use to put it in squirt guns and take it to the roller rink in the days of the pointy titties and white sweaters. :hot:

The best time for me or worse lol.....throwing it onto my Dad's lap in the hospital a day after him having his appendix removed. If he could have moved fast enough I don't think I would not lived past that day.

We ARE talking about the ‘disappearing’ ink, right? Not the invisible ink.
