I wanted to update you all about what's happening with Denny. I know he has many friends here who would want to know...

Denny's been suffering for quite some time from atrial fibrilation. The docs tried to correct it through meds and through more aggressive means, but it didn't respond. This past Thursday, Denny had an outpatient procedure done. During the procedure, there were complications that landed Denny in ICU with a chest tube.

The following morning when the docs tried to remove the chest tube, Denny began bleeding uncontrollably and it was quickly determined that an artery in his heart had been nicked. He was rushed to the OR where they opened his chest and repaired the artery. Twice during the operation, he had to be resusitated (sp?) as his heart stopped beating. Also, hee was given two units of blood.

After two days in the surgical ICU, he was finally moved to the cardiac floor, and now he's got pneumonia. This morning, the surgeon removed the chest tube successfully and, God willing, Denny will possibly be coming home tomorrow to continue recovering.

So... an outpatient procedure turned into major surgery and near death. After much pain and suffering, Denny got some more news this morning... the atrial fibrilation has NOT been corrected.

I'll be here in Thousand Oaks with him. I took him to the hospital and will bring him back upon release, and I'll stay here and tend to him. Believe me when I say he will receive all the loving care I have to give.

He's not out of the woods yet. The pneumonia persists and we were informed yesterday that he's got some damage to the heart as a result of this whole experience.

I wish for the both of you a fast recovery from this terrible ordeal.....my thoughts are with you Denny and Flutelady. There is by far nothing worse that not being able to do anything but put faith in the doctors and wait.....positive thoughts are being sent your way.

I had no idea. For sure my wife and I will keep him in our prayers. Our church also has a prayer chain and he'll be added to that. When you see him, tell him there's a lot of prayers going to for his well-being.

You folks are amazing! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the kind and heart-felt good wishes and prayers you've sent Denny's way. You've got me crying yet again, but these are tears that come from feeling embraced and cared for, and knowing that the man I love is cared about so much.

Denny was finally released from the hospital today. I drove him home and I'm here with him at his home in Thousand Oaks. he's still in quite a bit of pain but is doing better each day. I'm giving him all the TLC I've got to give. His poor body looks like it's been through a war...

He has refered to me as "Nurse Ratchet", which lets me know that he's definitely on the road to recovery, haha.

Tomorrow I'll share all of your postings with him. I know it will mean much to him and warm his heart as it's warmed mine.

Thank everyone for the heartfelt sympathy and expression of your kindness. I have had quite an ordeal the last six days and have a way to go to be back where I was last Wednesday!

LOL.. well! Isn't that a sign though? I know that one of the tests that hospitals give you before you can leave is if you can pee, pooh, and pass gas.. lmao

I took Denny back to see the doc this morning. He's recovering nicely and the doc was pleased to see his progress. We still need to deal with the irregular heartbeat issue, but we're definitely going to get a second opinion... at the very least!!

I'm returning to NorCal tomorrow to deal with family issues, but plan to be firmly entrenched here with Denny as of late June. His heart might not beat properly, but it's made of gold. As for my heart? I love him with every beat of it.
