Kitty cat!

My dog wants to errr play with it (eat it more like it) and my other cat hisses at it *LOL*

Anyway it will live in the bird aviary (minus any birds of course) with trip on leash upto the house for loves

It cant stay in the house...because my lot leave all the doors open *L*...i don't want it to get run over like my Simba

I went to work kittyless and come home with one LMAO

Any ideas on how to integrate a bubba puss into a established pet household??

I'll post some pics of her (no name yet) tonight....i cant for the life of me find the cable for the camera at the moment

very pretty kitten! Congrats.

I was a two cat household for about two months. I introduced the new one gradually and kept their litter boxes seperate (seems that won't be a problem). I started with very short periods in controlled areas (the spare bedroom) where I would open the door and let the established cat explore. When the hissing and fighting got bad, I'd seperate. The timespans kept getting longer to where I could trust them for a full day alone ... then I realized it was the kitten that was driving my allergies batty and had to give her up :( Everything I read recommended seperate spaces and slow introductions. One website recommended keeping feeding bowls on opposite sides of a closed door as a means to introduction with the door as the barrier.

:D Very nice addition to the household!

As far as integrating a new pet into the household... we always did introductions. I would hold the cat and let the dog sniff... the cat never liked it much, but then the dog would get used to the scent. But then, our dogs weren't mutants either.. rofl

Cute kitty! no advice here ... don't have any pets ... at least not at home ... we do have an office cat (my boss has another 5 cats at home) Our office cat doesn't seem to like other cats much ... whenever the boss takes her home ... she scares all of the other 5 cats into hiding and fleeing from her ... but she likes me a lot ... sometimes to the point of being a bit of a nusance .. know exactly how to lay down in the middle of the stuff I'm working on! ... anyway, your new kitty is (as Lil often says ... I believe I have it right) "darling precious" ... or is it "precious darling" ... OK Lil, lock me up ... I'm getting the terminology all wrong! :)

Oh he's delicious!!!!!!

I love black cats.....he'd make such a good playmate for my two!

As for advice on intergration, and other new kitten issues, have a look at:

www.understandinganimals.com

and click on the cat behaviour forum. Lots of really interesting and friendly people there (including me!) who'll be able to offer advice....and if you look in the archives you'll see your question has come up loads before.

Good luck with new kitty-cat.....tell us what you've called him, when you decide!

He’s cute as a kitten. :D……………….. (wonder why :rolleyes2 ) lol

I know Scoob will be thrilled with any new playmate he recognizes as part of your pack. If the truth be told, I bet that even with his lummox enthusiasm,:) he’s surprisingly gentle with the babe. I think he’ll be more accepting of kitty than the cat will. They seem to be big on the territorial issues.

My experience has gathered that the scent functions of our fellow mammals processes in ways we can’t even conceive. I’ve had good luck introducing many things to a less than welcoming environment, with extended scent exposure alone. If kitty is in quarantine for the moment, try putting in a bedding cloth or towel in with him and changing it every couple days and just leave it about in the house for the others to ponder before washing it. If you’re giving him visiting privileges, maybe start with short, supervised meetings and gradually extend the frequency and duration. Perhaps even a separate feeding of snack in the big house, then let the other clean up the scrap after the little one is gone.

I’ll be interested in the integration. Please keep us posted. :)

NOW!……………… the name.

I had a few appropriate names in mind. First thought was something like “Flood” or “Waves”. Noting his location, maybe even “Tsunami” would work if yu haven't sent in his birth certificate yet. :D Are you planning on teaching your kitty to swim? :rolleyes2

What a cutie! Tika is a great name. I am a big time kitty lover. I hold a 4 cat maximum and 1 dog. Although, with my pets alone - I am down to 2 kitties and 1 dog.

3 of my cats were blk. Just love blk cats. Bo Bo ( I didnt name her) is the only one still alive outta the blk ones. Minx and Chelsea were bro and sis.

Good luck with the new addition. I never did anything special when getting a new family member. I just let them work it out on their own.

Good Luck Again

Hugs,
Barb

Working it out on there own unfortunately for my lot is not gonna happen....The dog is just too big and could kill the kitten in a split second if he wanted to (he has killed an adult cat before he believed to be invading his territory)....as for the kitten...it arches, spits and hisses everytime it sees the dog *LOL*..all that does is stir the dog up more!

I think i'll just wait til theres a bit a wary respect with each other before any closer interaction happens

Tika and the other cat are at a sort of stand off....Gizmo tolerates it as long as it doesnt get too close so far (though the distance is dropping slowly) *L*

Anyway hopefully they will all get along eventually

osuche, a new house NEEDS a new cat :) I'm sure you can find a lovely kitten in San Fran. It will help the house feel like a home. Or at least that's what I was told when I bought my house, and I've got a truly spoiled and lovely cat (who's being quite boisterous this morning I might add).

osuche,

maddy's right! :)

My kitty will be comign with me when I get settled....although I think my mom is half ready to adopt her, she is willing to let me have hre back.

Kitty will likely make the transcontinental trip in June/July....via airplane, with my mom. :)

And I agree, getting kitty back will put the icing on the cake when it comes to making a home in San Francisco.
