Oh man, that is one nasty looking storm. Looks like the whole of northern Queensland is about to get slammed.
All of y'all under the gun will be on my mind today.

The experts say it looks like the storm will quickly cross into central Queensland and
bucket big time.
Our locals say it will do what it bloody wants to and when.

Sharni,
I like Mr. Glasheen's attitude.
"...hopefully the buildings will stay. I've got plenty of cold beer."

(A couple long days. My apologies for being late on this. :o )
We do have Pixies in Queensland, but pleased to say none in Cape York Peninsula area to our knowledge. They are +10 hours GMT and +15 hours EST. Another updating link.

Now if Ingrid would just gently lay some of that desperately needed water down for the rest of Qld., we'd all sleep better.
Personally, I think Ingrid is the result of floods generated a bit further south. :rolleyes2

The water in Ingrid has come from evaporation off the sea, in this case, the Coral Sea.
I notice that she has crossed the cape and is on her way to Gove or Groote Eylandt.
That puts her about 3 or 4 days away from me if she decides to visit.

The final line in the article set me to wondering:
"At its peak, Ingrid was classified as a category five cyclone - stronger than Cyclone Tracy which flattened Darwin more than 30 years ago."
In any case, batten down the hatches if she decides to pitch her fit at your house...

We are hoping Ingrid gets the blow out of her before she makes landfall as she did for Qld.
Now if you fly south at 200 kph, for 6 hours and then north for 6 hours, can you stay where you are?
( still think it’s all Sharni’s fault :rolleyes2 )

Are your cyclones my last year's hurricanes or are my next year's hurricanes these cyclones?

The little darling's 140km (85miles) due north at the moment.
Winds are starting to pick up, gusts of maybe 50kph. They are expected to peak
about 120-140 during the night.
Then, so long as the little darling doesn't turn the corner around the Tiwi Islands
and come at us from the north-west, we'll just have to put up with some fallen trees and
big mobs of rain.
Feel sorry for the poor buggers on Croker Island and the Tiwis who had (and are having)
290kph winds.
And Lil, I suspect that these are just left-overs from your hurricane season.

PF, for the 80th time, I'm not into water sports.
Lil, she passed us by with a lot of wind and rain, but not too much.
I'm seeing vision of heavy duty "c" section power poles bent like spaghetti on Croker Island.
No, PF, wrong "c" section. Just kidding LOL.
Mrs OF is still hanging on tight, but without much to do with Ingrid.
