We have this fundraising thing happening over here....unsure if it just Qld or if its Australia wide....
People are going to either shave their heads or dye their hair to raise money to find a cure for leukemia
Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllll....Myself and a girl i work with are getting our heads shaved :yikes: (there are 4 from my workplace so far going for the shave)
Interested if any other Aussie gonna have a go as well.....a very worthwhile cause!

Sharni---Expect some strange looks! When I worked at Sikorsky Aircraft(Conn),every St. Patricks Day,I would use green food coloring,& highlight my
Blond hair & Moustache.I told everyone,that it turned green,every year,on
St. Patricks Day.I'm sure that they all knew, but it sure did bring stares, from
people that didn't know me! Irish :sun:

Wow! That's an amazing sacrifice. I'm sure I couldn't do it.....
.....could I shave me hoo-hoo instead? Would someone pay me for that??? :D :p
I could go for the hair dye thing... but shaving my head? Uhm... don't think I could do it. I need my hair to offset my eyebrows. :rolleyes2
Kudos to you Sharni, you rock!! :wine:

Not sure on taking pics *LOL*...Though i'm sure Bilbo will be at the door camera at the ready for when i get home :D:D
It's not really that bad...its only hair...it'll grow back......eventually (probably grey *LOL*)
The worst part will be sitting up in front of hundreds of people while they do it *LOL*....i find that extrememly nerve wracking :D
I might...and i do mean might...post a pic of me after the shave *LOL*....depends how scary i am

Well i been shorn like a sheep *LMAO* People reckon it suits me....hmmmmmm dunno bout that
Anyway it was heaps of fun....turn out 11 Staff and 5 ring ins ended up having some sort of shearing done (hair clippers...length: blade is the lowest then goes up 1,2,3,4, & 5)
Myself, my workmate and another guy were the only ones that did the lowest cut...i'd do it again in a heartbeat *LOL*

Guts nahh...the ones that truely have the guts are the ones having to battle the disease eh....
It really was a small thing to do to try to help the sufferers...
Oh we raised nearly $2000.....bloody good effort i thought!

that is a darn good effort... I still think it took some guts to do it :) Funny part is that if I had a chance to participate, and the amount of hair is what counted, they would have raised $0.50 :D

Way to Go, Sharni!!!
Love the new do!
Great minds must think alike, girl..........when I went to Philadelphia for my son's wedding my hair was all the way down to my ass....4 1/2 yrs growth. The day of the wedding I went with the girls in the wedding party to the beauty salon, not really sure what I wanted to do with all that hair. I decided I wanted to get rid of it....all of it!! So I got it cut back very short, but long compared to yours :D (maybe 2-3 inches long), and I donated what was cut to Locks of Love. It's an organization that takes donated hair and makes wigs for children who have lost their to cancer. I was so happy to not only get rid of all that hair, but to do something useful with it.
Congratulations on doing this for such a worthy cause. :line:

Actually it does not usually make the wigs for kids with cancer. It helps kids with allopecia and other longterm medical hairloss. Locks of Love. (http://www.locksoflove.org/) That's where I sent mine too! Good job SS! I will send another foot in October I think!

Thanks for the link, Lil. I was just going by what I thought I remembered reading on the form I filled out at the salon. I had always thought it was for the kids you stated and was surprised when the form mentioned cancer. I was just glad I could do something to help.
