We get our taxes done for us...for just that reason. I know I'd make some kooky mistake. Also, we never owe anything cept for Mr. Lixy's local taxes (his checks come from Ohio and they refuse to take his Pa. taxes out) and so we get a check from the firm that does them for us, instead of waiting 4-6 weeks.
Yeah nikki...it's a stressful time!

*puts on a coat of armor* I actually don't mind taxes either... and I'm seriously considering hanging up a shingle to do them just as soon as I sit for the CPA exam. It amazes me how many people have relatively simple taxes and pay unreasonable fees to H&R and Jackson Hewitt to have them completed. I've always done my own (starting at 16) and have done my sisters for a few years now, including re-filing for four previous years (after a CPA messed them up for her).

Any government where a citizen cannot file a tax return without heartache and fear
is not a friend to it's citizens.

well i use turbotax.com for em , and i paid 50 dollars to have em done, but i still have to fil in all the blanks , i know its high but its worth it to e-file and get it back faster , i just need to pay more attention , im dislexic and it kicks my ass on all things money related so i dont trust myslef to do them on my own. i use quicken to do my acounts as well, that way i dont have to worry , i still make a few mistakes submitting the numbers in , but at least i dont have to add and subtract as well , when i was doing it on my own damn did i have a rubber acount or what!!!!

My stepfather, who was an internal auditor, did mine for years. I never really appreciated his efforts enough, until he died in 2001. That man was obsessive about his tax forms -- he used to order them by the *box full* so he could get it right...and then save a few extra forms for posterity's sake.
Now I do it the HR Block on-line web form way, and last year it cost me $25....a damn sight better than the one year I went into their office....wasted the same damn amount of time I take online *watching* them enter it into the computer (that's how I learned that monkeys have enough skill to do it themselves). I think that time I spent $240. <sigh>
Last year I did my S/O's too. :p This year the big question is.....married and filing jointly or no????? :D
