I have a pretty embarrassing problem, and I guess what makes it so embarrassing is that it's apparent to everyone.

I'm a brunette with really pale skin and freckles, which is okay, but the hair on my arms is really dark, and so it looks like there's more than there really is and it really shows up with this skin tone. I'm afraid to bleach it for obvious reasons, it might turn red or something LOL...

Do any of you other ladies have this problem? If I wax it off, is it going to come in thicker  or is that just something my mom told me to stop me from doing it? I need help, bad. I cant stand it like this anymore.

I have doubts about the growing in thicker theory, but then again they haven’t gotten around to teaching us that in the nursing program :p LOL

I agree with CGT... we are what we are... screw "them" if they don't like it!

But I also know how it can be when something is truly bugging you and needs to be dealt with. If you really can't stand the hair on your arms, I think you should wax them. It's not true about hair growing in thicker, and if you wax, the hair will grow back with a soft edge, as opposed to shaving. Never shave your arms!

I say don't worry about it... unless you look like a wookie. Then you need to watch out for Lilith... she has a thing for wookies you know. :p

Seriously though I would say Flutelady has your answer... we are what we are. If someone doesn't like it, then they are spending too much time worrying about the wrapping on the outside rather than the person to be found on the inside.

Yeah not much you can do about it. I am very pale and have the same problem. I used to cut it with scissors but it just grew back. :rolleyes2

Perosnally, I'd try bleaching it.....and see if it works. I'd hate the thought of stubble as it came in....

Gee osuche is a smart lady cause i was gonna say the same thing, i've tried shaving my arms and waxing , it didn't come back in thicker but it's darker, so about every three weeks i use a creme bleach on them, works wonders for me. Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll try bleaching it first, then if that screws up, wax it. I think I'm the only one really bothered by it, but it does bother me.

It's really weird when you have more hair on your arms than your man does LOL...Actually, I have less, but his is blonde, right along with the rest of the hair on his body, damn lucky bastard.

yeah what she said! quit worrying about everyone else I have had my hobbit hair ever since i can remember and as a kid i can remember tring to shave it off my arms....oh boy was that a mistake! And to top that off when my mother found out she had the same things to say that these other fine ladies have said but bleach it first hun it's less intrusive than friggin wax that's for sure!!

i can see you hate it and although we all may say don't worry about it, if it's something that bothers you then by all means do something about it. btw...that part about hair growing back thicker?...it's a myth, it won't happen that way. you could try nair or something similar, too.

Thank you CGT, but this is just one of those things that I've always wanted to change :D I hate hair....

I've decided not to bleach it since it's so dark. If it turned out orange, I'd cry lol

Anyway, wyhndy, I've decided that I'll take your advice about the nair. After the holidays, the checking account is pretty small, we cant afford to waste $30 to get the hair off of my arms right now with everything else. There's a bottle of nair in the bathroom, and I'm about to go put it on.

Maybe next time I'll get them waxed, but I'm thinking that my arms are going to be a lot more tender than my legs for some reason....I'll update in a few mins

I did it.....Right now they're kind of itchy, but I guess that'll pass. I like the way they look/feel...Where the hell did all these freckles come from? :p

Thanks to everyone who responded.

I was too late :(

I was gonna suggest you look at my pics...mine is dark like yours and I'm self-conscious about it too but I get what I get and I don't cry a bit.

I've heard that Jergen's has a lotion for "after shaving" (prolly meant for the legs...but so what) that, when used every single time...in time the hair comes in finer and finer and then less and less. I can't say that I know anyone who has used it, but it might be worth looking into, cherry!

Also, there has been an infomercial going round for a product called "Nad's" (named after the inventor's daughter, "Nadalie"...who was rather hairy and embarrassed about it). I think it is now sold at drug stores as well. It's a goop rather than a hot wax, and claims after continuous use the hair comes in finer. It looks easier to use than wax. It even claims that when used for a time you might experience "no return hair growth" in time.

Good luck hun!
