Lilith, I read the book and also watched the movie. They did leave a lot of stuff from the book that would have explained everything better. What questions did you have?

PS - I agree Eros, especially when she finally took off the bonnet. ;)

LOL You wish Eros...no skin in this flick but the girl has lips that beg to be kissed. And presently I am in lust  with Mr. Colin Firth. Those eyes :swoons:

Cassiopeia~ I need to know more about the earrings at the ending...did I see swatches of the cap and hair covering in the envelope too? I'll read the book...I think I must. Which was better the book or movie?

The book is wonderful. Really really wonderful, and as always covers different things better.

But that movie floored me. I don't know how she (the director, name escapes me) and her crew did it, but they filmed it as much like a Vermeer as I've ever seen. The light, the colours, everything! I watched it once, then again with the sound off just to see it in motion.

I can't wait to see this movie! It should be arriving later this week from netflix. I read the book and absolutely loved it. My mother read the book and saw the movie and after seeing the movie needed to read the book again. She mentioned there were things she needed to check. Not sure of the details, but she did mention that they did a wonderful job making that movie.... btw... those very kissable lips are Scarlett Johanssons, she was in Lost in Translation. The director is Peter Webber, I have never heard of him, not sure what else he has done.

I don't recall seeing a swatch of a cap and hair covering in the envelope, though thats not to say it wasn't there. I really don't think that that was in the book, but its been 6 months since I last read it.

I enjoyed the book more, and I'd highly recommend reading it. It seems like thats always the case where the movie doesn't give the book exact justice it deserves!
