Hi, everyone.

Well, got our youngest daughter married Saturday over in Indianapolis.

Went over last Thursday and just returned a little while ago. The trip went great. Weather was almost perfect. Family in friends from as far away as Texas and Florida made it up. The two families really hit it off. The bride (Father's look of pride is visible :D) was beautiful. Had a marvelous Italian rehersal dinner; a really beautiful church wedding in a spectaular church; the homily was very tailored for the couple with a good message delivered in a light and enjoyable manner; a simply unbelieveable reception dinner and party; and it ended today with my kids throwing me a birthday party (I turned 61 today). I teased my daughter telling her that she sure went to a lot of trouble to celebrate my birthday. JK!!!! :D :D

Following is the poem I wrote for her and her new husband ... hope you enjoy:

Points of Light

I sat beneath the points of light
That shown in darkened sky
And wondered of the majesty
Of God’s creative eye.

So many stars, so vast the view,
How marvelous is He,
Then it became so very clear,
How near He was to me.

At first a tiny baby girl,
A toddler soon to be,
And then my little princess,
Who I could hold upon my knee.

It seemed like only moments,
Till that bouncing ball of joy,
Was off to school and parties,
Or thinking of dates and boys.

Then one of those boys she met and saw,
Became that special beau
One who stole her tender heart
And gave her such a glow.

Today, we celebrate that love
‘Tween Brian and fair Dawn,
And in that celebration,
Again, I wonder on …

These two new shining points of light
That have merged beneath God‘s sky,
Share a glimpse of His true majesty,
And His creative eye.

God bless you, always ...

DB... I'm so glad it was a lovely wedding and that everyone is so happy. Beautiful poem too... left me with a lump in my throat.

My sweet daughter is getting married 5 weeks from yesterday. She's been extra close to me for 22 years... it will be quite an adjustment to see her go. It's a hard thing for Mom... but life goes on and this is very right for her.

I'm thrilled for your daughter, happy for you and Mrs. DB... congratulations and my very best on the next phase of your journey as her Dad.

Thanks, everyone. It really was a terrific weekend. The toast I used at the wedding reception might also appeal to you. It's an old Irish toast ... and it seemed so appropriate for the two of them ...

May you be poor in misfortune
Rich in blessings
Slow to make enemies
Quick to make friends.
But rich or poor, quick or slow,
May you know nothing but
happiness from this day forward.

I love that toast! :)

A belated Happy Birthday (((db)))!

I'm so happy all went well for your daughter's wedding. It sounds like it was magnificent!

I started another thread for your b-day this morning...but deleted it when I saw this one. I wish you health, wealth, happiness and love in the coming year[s]!

Thanks everyone for the B-day wishes and nice thoughts on the wedding ... and BIBI ... a special thank you. I told my oldest daughter last year when she turned 39 that she'd finally caught up to me ... that the secret was knowing when to stop. Now (when I want to tease a bit), I call her my "older" daughter. :D

:bday2: DB! Wow...didn't know you were old enough to be my dad--literally. Knew you were more than 2x's my age, but didn't know how close you were to my dad(he'll be 62 in Oct). Congrats on your birthday and getting your daughter hitched.

Judging by the beatiful poem you wrote for your daughters wedding, that day, will be one of your most treasured by Mrs DB and you.
