Lots and lots of lotion, and fresh clean sharp razor next time. ;) Always, always, always go WITH the grain of growth the first few times, until your body is used to it.

I spent the entire day at work either wanting to scratch or slapping on moisturiser!

The more you itch at it, the more irritated it will be, and thus, the more it will itch. Try some hydrocortizone cream.

[mentally puts another tick in the box marked "not gonna"] Sounds miserable. Hope you find something to sooth you, or at least take your mind off the troubles ;).

I'll show you mine if you show me yours? LMAO...at this point, I'm pretty sure it would be more desireable to offer me NOT showing you mine! ha ha

Lush just be patient - different people react differently and often your skin just needs some time to get used to it. I can suggest starting out slowly and then increasing the frequency - ie shave once every two weeks for a few weeks, then once a week, then twice a week, then every other day etc. Then you're slowly getting your skin used to it. If you go helter skelter every day straight up your skin won't know what hit it!
And like others have said, try not to itch it too much. And some have had great success with hydrocortizone etc. I would suggest just a moisturiser with aloe vera, and if you start getting little red bumps - ingrown hairs - then use an exfoliant on it every second day or every day however often you need.
Good luck, once you get used to it believe me it's worth it!

I'm with Quisath... let it grow and keep it trimmed. No way I'm shaving, I do NOT want nubs there!

i have shaved several times,
and the first time it really itched like hell,
but the past few times it was ok, no real major itching,
i don't do it on a regular basis, i usually trim it now and then but hardly ever shave it, perhaps if there was someone to appreciate it i would shave it constantly :D
oh and if any of you ladies needs a young man to help apply that cream, just call me up,
maybe i should that for a living!

I'm usually well trimmed to shaved and it always bugs me the first time I shave after having gone awhile. When I keep it shaved it doesn't bother me anymore.

First, try using baby oil AS you shave.
Second, EXFOLIATE like mad the first few times!!!
Or just have a nice, soothing wax (LOL) and just do "razor maintenance" as I do.
Barely,
