For now I’ll let you see Grumbles looking at Canada from the end of may daughter’s street. Shame it was so hazy.:( I told him that on a clear day ………. you still can’t see it, but it’s out there!:D

(and he didn’t even have Canada on his itinerary. ;) )

Having a great time here with PF, naturally we get along fine.

Last night his family got together and we all had dinner together.
PF's son, daughter, their spouses and children.

We had a magnificent Turkey pie with all the trimmings and some venison as well as a warm family atmosphere made it a very special occassion for me. I really am into people things and there is nothing more special than family.

There is nowhere I have been where I have not been treated by my Pixie friends as someone special and looked after magnificently. I doubt if anyone could have a better and more richly rewarding vacation than I am having.

On Sunday I am leaving for Montana to meet my girlfriend curyredhead and she is very excited. I am too and have the butterflies in the tummy and nervous expectation. Will soon know if my dreams will come true

Glad you're having a wonderful time, Grumble. I hope PF is keeping you busy! ;)

Grumble
05-08-2004, 06:16 PM
TY Osuche, he is and I have got all those aircraft pics onto disc now. I had a nice time with you sweetie. Take it easy LOL

To other pixies that is near impossible, Osuche is abnormally and impossibly busy, it mkes you tired to read her schedule. I have said before she is gorgeous and the face to face reality just reinforces that opinion.

I enjoyed my time with Grumble -- but it was unfortunately brief due to the aforementioned schedule.

The Great Grumble has moved on to more pleasant company. ;) While his visit seem too short, I was happy to dispatch him to the more “receptive” Pixie that he is SO elated to be changing from anticipation into reality. :)

I can’t tell you what a pleasant and enlightening visit we had. Once the reality of meeting a true Pixie you become aware that it is unlike meeting a stranger in the normal sense. As Grumble reasonably puts it, we have come to know one another from the inside out. It’s true that the attitudes and intimate openness that characterizes a bond that even our individual personalities and perspectives do not diminish.

The man is a witty and intelligent person with an open mind that removes pretense and implore sharing. We actually only had a true 3 days (71 hours) that was so event filled it bordered on over load for us both. After our rendezvous at a Bob Evens outside of the city, we first set about disposing of the rental car that was taking FULL advantage of a traveling foreigner. They DID shamefully put to bricks to him with the add-ons.

Grumble and I had been in contact and having mutual technical working backgrounds and experience, discussed topics of insight and interest. We have some pics for the FEW people left that actually are involved with producing the tangible items used in our existence. The others among us may find this quite boring. We beg your forgivness.:)

After we dumped the car at the plane-port ( ;) ), the logistics let us visit the company of a personal friend involved with some rather hi-tech processing of cutting tool coatings. It is owned by a Russian-Hungarian doctor of physics I became aquatinted with years back while involved with a research and development program at a local university and have been doing consulting work for since the founding of his company 10 years ago. All of his staff are Russian immigrants and perhaps the most intelligent and best educated group of a small hands-on organization I know.

Here is a pic of Grumble watching the charging of a plasma field used for standard Titanium Nitride coating. The company is doing some interesting development of ion beam implantation as time and cash flow permits.

PantyFanatic
05-09-2004, 11:47 PM
Here Grumbles is discussing a processes system developed for the cleaning preparation of parts to be coated. The gentleman he is talking with is a medal holder of the Order of the Russian Federation for his development of a single stage purification process to 0.5 ppm.

PantyFanatic
05-09-2004, 11:49 PM
We left there for a quick visit the other extreme of industry at a wire brush manufacturer. Here Grumbles “tries” to pretend he is looking a the finished product of a process he just studied.

PantyFanatic
05-09-2004, 11:54 PM
Grumbles stands with Tom, the owner of the 126 year old, family owned company, looking at a proprietary machine that processes material for use in wire wheels.

PantyFanatic
05-09-2004, 11:56 PM
Tom explains the modifications to a machine that will produce a new product.

05-09-2004, 11:57 PM
We finished our whirlwind afternoon with a quick stop a one of the local (and not the largest) used machinery dealers with three acres of machinery under roof. Grumbles found it worthy of recording. :)

My daughter and son had looked forward to meeting my “Pixie friend" and we all spent the evening with the families at her house and a fine dinner. I’m going to have to get more Pixies to visit. ;)

The next morning I was able to arrange a guided visit to the ASM International Headquarters (http://www.asm-intl.org/content/AboutASM/MaterialsPark/MaterialsPark.htm) located in Cleveland.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:08 AM
Besides being the global authority of the latest specification and processing of metals, it has an archive of historic documents back to the 1500’s including hand written notes of Thomas Edison that Grumbles is looking at.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:15 AM
Our private guide was willing to snap a pic of us at one of the legs of 103 ft. high geodesic dome designed by R. Buckminster Fuller. It really is a symbol of man’s mastery of his metal resources.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:17 AM
We then visited an old friend and customer/vendor in the steel fabricating business from the 13 years I operated my own company and which Grumbles is now involved with. Here he stands next to a 1,000 ton x 20 ft. pressbrake.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:19 AM
Custom steel fabrication involves the forming and assembly of materials to the customers specification. This company leans toward the heavy side with equipment like this one Grumbles is standing next to and able to roll a 1” thick x 8 ft. wide, steel plate into a cylinder.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:24 AM
Here Grumbles stands next to a roll able to form a 4in. x 4in. solid steel bar, or a 15 in. I-beam into a ring. The machine occupies a space of 12 ft. x 18 ft. x 10 ft. below the floor with only the rolls above.

We finished our opportunities to explore some work related interests with a visit to Lincoln Electric that has its world headquarters and manufacturing facilities here. Lincoln is the worlds largest maker of welding equipment and supplies.

The next day was much more leisurely and one we spent with a personal interest of Grumbles. I’ll be back soon with some pics of that. :D

On Saturday we were able to set our own pace and an easy one we did.:) Grumbles wanted to take a look at a WWII submarine that is anchored here, so we visited the USS Cod.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:03 PM
He gave it a complete once over.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:05 PM
Made sure everything above deck was working to his standards.

Then down the hatch to “check out her innards”.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:08 PM
He made sure each of the 4- 16 cylinder engines were in shape.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:11 PM
After a quick evaluation of the workings of the tubes he felt secure.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:13 PM
He was ready to load. (where else do you get to look down a torpedo tube? ;) )

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:14 PM
He made the necessary adjusts he felt were needed.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:26 PM
Captain Nemo was ready to patrol Lake Eire.

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 12:27 PM
Shame the curators didn’t feel the same way.:( So we left and they can just keep their old submarine.

LixyChick
05-10-2004, 05:35 PM
Oh cool PF! You couldn't get me in the "innards" of a sub if you dropped a million bucks down first! Looks like Ian had a great time though!

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 05:36 PM
We made a point to stop at the famous HOT DOG INN (only meaningful to people in northern Ohio and NE Pennsylvania) on the way home.:p Grumbles has that pic and I’ll be looking forward to seeing it and all the others he has taken. :) We spent the rest of the day and evening talking about EVERYTHING.

Grumbles decided to contemplate all that we had seen and done.

LixyChick
05-10-2004, 05:38 PM
LMFAO! Will that be your next av PF?

PantyFanatic
05-10-2004, 05:38 PM
The next morning, while packing up, is when I became aware he had been sent off with Sox and Phillies baseball caps from OTHER stops. It was too late to find an Indians cap on a Sunday morning but he was going to see if there was something in the gift shop behind the line of demarcation at the planeport.

I bid a friend adieu.:(

LixyChick
05-10-2004, 05:41 PM
It's ok PF! Mr. Lixy said Grumble really doesn't NEED and Indians cap!

*ducks and runs away*

Just noticed this thread bubbled back up. The picture in the background of that beautiful model is actually an implant over one of my granddaughters in the double frame that we noticed after the fact. I cropped one of my Hall Of Silky favorites and got it a tiny bit crocked to the edge if you look closely.

(I couldn’t bear the thought of having to take the pic over again ;) )
