R & R got together and M & C now have twins and are moving to the 'burbs. I didn't see a second of it because I was at work but was curious to read what happened so I googled friends finale.
I liked R & R together but expected more from the writers. I would have thought they would have kept them apart (but maybe the writers were too busy dealing with the damage to their reputations from the sexual harassment case). I digress!

They're discussing it on the radio right now & one woman caller made a good point - she thought it sucked that Rachel gave up a big job for a guy.

It kind of did, but who knows, they might have it so that she takes the job, and Ross moves over there. I expect that we'll learn a bit more about what happened to everyone during the first few episodes of Joey.
I must say, though, after seeing the first ad for it, I wasn't overly impressed.

Well, I think most people expected Ross and Rachel to be together. Can you imagine the outcry if they *hadn't?*
(Psssst....Steph? I'd give up a job for true love anyday. Fortunately, I don't have to.) :)

it seemed to me to be more of an episode than a finale....kind of like they'll be back next week, ya know?

You know, that's what one of my thoughts was, too. It didn't have the feeling of, "This is the end". The only thing that felt like the end was the apartment being empty.

I have to agree with that... there really wasn't much resolution of anything... they just kinda left. I guess that's to leave things open for the spinoff, but who knows.

-nods- I am hoping that things that were left unsaid, will be said in Joey. For instance, I was really wondering why they didn't give Joey a 'out' to move to LA, so I presume the first epi will start in "New York". I had expected him to get a call saying he got a job that needed him to move.
In fact, back when they first said that a star was in talks for a spinoff, with no confirmation who, my first thought was, "It's got to be Joey. He's an actor, he can move to a new location, and it'd make the most sense".
So, I was bumed they didn't go into his departure at all. And I was bumed that they went into nothing at all for Pheobe and Mike. Oh, ok, except he wants a kid, and she wants lots.
Overall, the show focused on just the two pairs- Chan/Mon, and Ross/Rach. I felt the other two "friends" got left out a lot. And I guess when I look back, that's been happening more and more in the past few seasons. But still, I'd have liked more to have happened with those two for the finale, at the very least.

It made me realize that shows like ER and Will & Grace might not see such a send off.
I was surprised it was broadcast at Times Square with other mini parties everywhere.
Seinfeld & Friends are the only two major shows in recent memory with such hoopla. Frasier just faded away, alas.
