It is a movie about the Big One (Earthquake) that hits the West coast. Besides the fact that a big earthquake will hit this area, although not necessarily the whole area (Cali to Wash) it has little bases in reality. I have chosen not to watch it for that reason. I admit I enjoy shows that are not real (Sci-Fi, etc...) but shows that try to pass for reality but use seriously overblown myths bug me.

No show is real enough to actually happen. That's why it's called entertainment, and not a documentary. ;)
