According to Blender magazine they are!

Here are the Top Ten of their list of 50:
1. We Built This City Starship 1985
2. Achy Breaky Heart Billy Ray Cyrus 1992
3. Everybody Have Fun Tonight Wang Chung 1986
4. Rollin' Limpbizkit 2000
5. Ice Ice Baby Vanilla Ice 1990
6. The Heart of Rock & Roll Huey Lewis & The News 1984
7. Don't Worry, Be Happy Bobby McFerrin 1988
8. Party All the Time Eddie Murphy 1985
9. American Life Madonna 2003
10. Ebony and Ivory Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder 1982

And I also found the bottom 11:

40 “I Wanna Sex You Up” COLOR ME BADD 1991
41 “We Didn’t Start the Fire” BILLY JOEL 1989
42 “The Sounds of Silence” SIMON & GARFUNKEL 1965
43 “Follow Me” UNCLE KRACKER 2000
44 “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” MEAT LOAF 1993
45 “Mesmerize” JA RULE FEAT. ASHANTI 2002
46 “Hangin’ Tough” NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK 1989
47 “The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You” BRYAN ADAMS 1996
48 “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” THE BEATLES 1968
49 “I’m Too Sexy” RIGHT SAID FRED 1992
50 “My Heart Will Go On” CÉLINE DION 1998

I heard that The Doors "The End" is in this list as well. WTF? Some definitely belong here, but there are some that I think have no place here.

Any other nominations??

Worse song ever? Don't forget Bobby Goldsborough's HONEY. Just curious,Does Starship have any of the original Jefferson Airplane members left in it? I know this can't be the same band that gave us; White Rabbit,Somebody to Love,Surealistic Pillow, Volunteers of America etc.......

I like a lot of the songs that appeared in both of those lists, so I guess I have poor taste in music, too. My nomination is The Name Game, or at least I think that's what it was called. Maybe it's too old for the list makers to have been aware of its existence.

What's that song about dogs, shit.. I can't recall how it REALLY goes, because my husband got my daughter to sing it "Who's in the dog house, who who who who" But I'm sure from that, you can imagine what one I mean.

I like #'s 1, 5, 6, 41, and 50. They can be cheesy, they can be over done, but they are good old songs that I still know the words to. Hell, I have #41, #5, and #1 on my current play lists for music. :D

I know a lot of people hate "Hey Mickey", but it's a fun song, especially for working out. Always get's me wanting to dance around like an idiot. :p

Basically, what that list comes down to, is personal preference. Everyone has different tastes, no one will agree conclusivly, so there is no difinitive "Top 50 worst songs ever", because like us, no one will think that certain ones deserved to be on it, and think others do deserve to be on it.

I like my own music, and yes, I will jam to it if it comes on, regardless of who's in the room watching. :D

OMG Lil! Opportunity rarely knocks twice and especially in such a short period of time...but I was hoping I'd have the chance to tell you this someday, since I didn't remember to when we were talking about the concert...but...we call them Jefferson Wheelchair now! *giggle, giggle, giggle* :D

I heard this list on the radio yesterday and I was surprised at quite a few of them. I agree with Gilly...this sounds like a small sampling of personal taste. Does it say how they came up with this list Aqua?

Oh...and one more thing Lil...I love Tub Thumping!

*runs outta the thread!*

Lakritze, shame. Honey'll still bring a tear to the eye.

The lists just show that not everyone's taste in music matches mine.

OMG! Are you kidding me? I thought I knew you better than this! I love that song...sans the whistle! I could live without the whistle since my boss has whistled it everyday since I have been at my job (some 7+ years)!

Now, if there is a G~n~R song that sucks......

*singing* "I used to love her...but I had to kill. I used to love her...but I had to kill her. I had to put her...six feet under. But I can still hear her complain". WTF was in his head at the time? DON'T answer that...it's rhetorical! LOL!

*walks out of the thread singing..."I was walking the streets at night"...............*

Huh huh, huh huh huh... She said sperm! Huh huh huh

As far as the list goes, from what I can tell, there was no definitive criteria, only that the song had to have been considered a hit song for it to be included.

Simon and Garfunkel were included because the lyrics of that song sounded pretentious and pompous to the writer's of the magazine. It's not based on a particular scale or set of rules at all.

I hear ya BIBI! If I had a nickel for everytime it was/is played...I'd have a shit load of nickels!

Oh...and Aqua? I meant...who actually composed the list? Was it the magazine (editors, reporters...etc.) itself? The readers? Certain area? Certain criteria to make such a list? Just curious of age and group and stuff like that! No biggie!

Yes, yes, and yes.

I predict that the very same people making him a star will look back in 4 years, and wonder why they can't get $.50 for the cd's on Ebay.

Remember beanie babies? They too were over hyped, and over sold, until they became worth only $3.99 on sale at the local drug store.
