Just curious,

Do you prefer to read about the same sexual encounters as you are turned on by and select as porn?

Does your reading choices match your viewing choices?

Never really thought about it until you asked. I would have to say yes, as I really seem to enjoy the amatuer stuff.

Hadn't really thought about it....but yeah, I guess they do for me. Curious to see what others have to say.

The whole idea of "porn" vs "erotica" seems to me an artificial dichotomy.

I don't worry about the label, I just enjoy it.

gekkogecko you missed what the question is.... sorry if I was unclear

Do you enjoy the same topics/ sexual adventures in viewable pornography and you do in literature?

I tend to be snobbier with erotic literature. I have to have a good plot and I really admire a well written erotic story.

I'm not as picky with viewable pornography.

Thats about the only thing I can think of...if you were referring to subject matter there isn't really much of a difference with me :)

I've been told that I am too literary when it comes to SEX...I love reading the classics from Henry Miller.Anais Nin,Erica Jung,D.H.Lawrence etc...Even the WEB sites I go to on the net have a social commentary to them.I like to watch porn to but don't have any videos.I do have however Last Tango, Henry & June,Tropic of Cancer,Midnight Cowboy and a few others.Funny thing, all of these writers have been accused at one time of writing "pornography". I do agree with Gekkogecko about the erotica/porn issue though.Like Cassiopela,I'm kind of a snob about what I choose to read and see.I have written a couple of stories that are buried deep in my e-mail folder from a couple of years back with inspiration in the form of an online cyberfest.

I think it's safe to say that the topics are pretty much the same but some of the more abstract themes (bisexual orgies and voyeuristic scenes) don't play out on film the way they do on paper. It's like mainstream films. Some things you can adapt for the movies and some are just so intricate or unusual that you don't know where to begin.

I'm just the opposite of lakritze, don't care what kind it is, just were is it. I have a rather large Porn movie collection and have read everything from classic Erotica to Penthouse Letters.

I nwhich case, I still see it as an artificial dichotomy...after all, when I'm reading, I'm still receiving the information through the medium of sight. Doesn't matter to me which format it comes in...or more accurately, which format I want at any particular time is pretty much dependent on my mood. I just sit back and enjoy it, regardless of the label.

Interesting....my imagination far exceeds anything I have seen or have viewed so I find the images available to me/my mind when reading to be nothing like those in a visual media format. So for me it's not at all artificial.

I think you have still missed the primary question...do you enjoy reading (content not physiology) about the same scenarios that you enjoy viewing in pornographic films? If you see no difference between the minds participation in the creation of images with the written word and pornographic films then I can see why for you, your answer is such.

I'm not sure Lilith was really trying to set viewable pornography and reading erotic literature as a dichotomy.

For me there definitely is a difference however. When I read a story I want to be able to imagine every single detail, and a good erotic story allows me to that. I want to know exactly how hard the cock was or exactly how it felt to be touched, etc. But when view porn I don't necessarily need that much detail. Its more visibly titillating for me and I don't have to do as much imagining...make sense?

There's a definite difference to me. I don't care much to watch two guys fucking in a video, but on paper it can be very hot.

But there are cases where I like it either on paper or video... so it just depends.

In my case I like a plot and maybe a little romance in my erotic reading. If it's a film...I'm not as picky.

I love the erotic stories. I can put myself there in my mind. Don't get me wrong, I love to watch some porn too, but with stories, I can get myself really nice and worked up and not too fast like with porn. I love details and with stories I get that.

Stories portray situations and predicaments so much better than porn movies for the most part. I have similar tastes with both but some genres in porn are pretty vapid.

i guess it depends on my mood,

if i want to be entertained i'll read a nice erotic story,

but if i want something to wack off too, i usually go straight to the fucking parts, but only with porno usually, sometimes with a story i may skip a view paragraphs and get to the juicy stuff,

but i never watch a porn for the dialogue, i just like to see the fucking

For me there are different levels. I like my movie porn to be just about anything so long as the video quality is good and there's lots of penetration shots. I like my photographic/drawn porn to be artistic, well executed not poor quality. I like my written porn (erotica for those that want to split hairs..hehe) to be relatively grammatically correct and with a fairly developed plot. Meaning relatively decent English and spelling and a story that you can follow.

Of course if it doesn't turn me on I just won't look at/read it.

funny ... here's my true confession, I've never watched a porn video, never really had the urge to do so.... so sorry, Lil, I can't really answer the question with full certainty, but I'm pretty sure that what I read about would also be what I'd watch - if I watched a porn video. :)

Hmmmmm...also never really thought about it, but I'd have to say that my reading selections are slightly different than my viewing selections. They tend to be a bit more, well, kinky I guess. :D

I much prefer to read. Usually there is no seduction in filmed porn, but in erotica there is and this really turns me on, more than viewing or reading about straight sex. Also talking dirty turns me on and there is more of that in written erotica than in video. I really object to loud background music and dubbed moans in Video or film. Reading it allows me to imagine how the words and the moaning sound. That said how about these? These are always fun, but liked them better when they moved.

I much prefer the literature to anything visual... I happen to be blessed with a very good (or very bad, depending on perspective :)) imagination. Plus, most of the porn that I've seen comes off as a little too fake for my tastes. I prefer the pictures on here (you gorgeous men and women!) and something that I can read and imagine for myself.

I don't get into the real Kinky stuff when it comes to porn. Most of it is so "posed" and hey, these are actors.

But with the written stuff, my mind can do most of the work, and creating the visuals is half the fun.
