View Full Version : I hurt

I think I have an abcess tooth. It's puffy, and hurts like a bitch. Last night, I think I took enough painkillers to be lucky to wake up today.

Seriously, I took 2 Tylenol w/ Codine, 1 muscle relaxor, 4 Tylenol PMs (which had the equivalent of 2 sleeping pills mixed in), an aleve, and a migrain pill. All in 3 hours.

And none of it made my jaw pain go away. Sharp shooting pains.

Money or not, we made an appt today to get it looked at and hopeully taken care of. :(

youch! There is nothing more painful than a toothache - hope you are feeling better Gilly!

Also, would not recommend taking so many painkillers in so little time :(

Gilly, I hope you get the relief you so badly need.

I would take it very easy with the Tylenol, acetaminophen can cause severe, irreparable liver damage.

Hell, if you're gonna kill your liver...do it with scotch! The alcohol may help numb your tooth while numbing your brain.

Tooth pain is one of the two kinds of pain that makes me weak in the knees. I feel for ya.

I'm on wellbutrin for anxiety, and alcohol is a big no-no with that one. Believe me, I was SORELY tempted last night.

Gilly- check out a local college or university. if they have a dental curriculum they may fix you up for free!

The college in town doesn't have a dental program.

Now, on the down side... about 8 years ago, I was hospitilized for a severe kidney infection, while I was pregnant. In that time, 1 doctor I saw mentioned that I had a slight heart murmur. No other doctor before or since has said I have one, or detected one. However, I found out today that when you have any sort of mouth infection, that before getting work done, anyone with a heart murmur is supposed to be on antibiotics.

She tried explaining it, but to tell the truth, I'm a bit foggy right now. Anyway, long story short, until she can recieve word from my family physician on whether I have one or not, she can't do any work on me. :(

She said it'd likely be next week sometime. :(

Vicodin is my kick. Morphine makes me sick. ;) Up until a month or so ago, I still had some. Damn me for wasting the last two on really bad stomach cramps! Damn me! Damn me! Damn me!

I'd suggest motrin over tylenol, it will take the swelling down. I unfortunately can sympathize. My husband and I today were just saying how badly we both need to be getting to the dentist. Hope you get to feeling better! Tooth pain is the worst. (or at least it seems that way when it's hurting) :D

I agree with the motrin because it fight inflamation and an absess is inflamed. Something that got me through a rough dental spell was Goody's or BC powder rubbed directly on the gums. It tastes like shit but works like a charm. Just make a paste or a poultice and pack it around.

I had picked up motrin earlier today, because taking 4 of them is the same as taking a motrin 800, which usually works better on me than T3's. I took 4 about two hours ago, and plan to take 1 or 2 more right before we finally go to bed.

It's be a long freakin night. :(
