To ebay.... I firmly believe that Satan himself could not have thought up a more addicting past time.

We've been trying to win a gameboy color for our almost-8 year old for her birthday. We finally won one, and it got here, and didn't work. :( Now, time is cutting in to get one bought, paid for and received before her birthday, and I keep getting outbid with like 3 seconds left! How can I retaliate with no time left! -whines-

Gah, that place is entierly too addicting. -nodnod-

I've gone through spurts, usually, when I "quit", I'll stay gone for months and months, even up to a year. Then, I'll get the urge to just "look". Then, I'll buy. Then I'll buy more. And more, and more... Ok, usually, it's only a few things on each stint. Before Christmas, Hubby bought some basketball cards, and I got a Spike & Drusilla autograph for me, and an Angel one for my Aunt.

All I've gotten this time around is 1 defunct game boy, and I'm waiting on 2 games to arrive for it. Luckily, if we don't get one in time, my son has one they can at least share for playing their games. That's what led to this whole fiasco in the first place. He got one for his birthday from an Aunt.

Last thing was a "Save the Children" neck tie....like my professor wears. So the next time he comes and has forgot his he will get this one. I am super super superstitious and once he really threw my energy off and I had a test the next period. Now I am prepared.

I have gone to taking it intraveniously to save time. One line into ebay and the other going out to paypal. Buy to sell, sell to buy...

I sell all of our old junk there, it pays for diapers and keeps me busy when the kids are in bed. Oh and a way to win over the bid sharks is to do the same they do. You wait until there's about 30 seconds left and then bid the highest amount you're willing to, or even a little over. They won't have time to keep putting in bids to outbid you. Otherwise find someone with a cheap buy it now price and go that way. I hate being outbid, I've had it happen in those last seconds. And we have DSL so we have a pretty fast connection and can rebid pretty quick, but some of those people are relentless, they do that for a living. I know, I have a sister who is an admitted bid shark. :D

My name is Bardog......
And I am an Ebay-oholic
I am convinced that there should be some kind of 12 step recovery program. As for being out bid 2 weeks befor Christmas I was outbid on a motorcycle for my son with 10 seconds left!

One way to keep it at a minimum is to pay from your checking account rather than a credit card ... learned really quickly that when it is just something that sounds fun or pay for essentials, it keeps the wanting in perspective. :)

We only pay by money order, so when I bid, I'll only bid as much as I know we can spare in cash. Sometimes, if we have some extra in our paypal, we'll do that, too. No checks, no credit cards, just what we have on hand at that moment.

Well, I didn't pay cash or money order for this, but this is the biggest purchase I've made on ebay.
