Seems like every single year, something goes wrong, and we have some sort of delay. This year, the problem was the summer child tax credit from last year. My mom did our taxes, and asked if we'd recieved it, to which I promptly said yes.
Unfortunatly, the question was lost somewhere between her ear and brain, cause she marked down that we hadn't recieved it. So, when we checked the website to see when our federal was estimated to be sent out, we were told to call them. That was a bit over a week ago, and they said to call back after today, and they'd know what the problem was.
They also told us that if the problem was on our end, they would fix it, send a bunch of papers that we'd need to sign, and send back, and then we'd get a check. Total, it could be anywhere from 2-8 weeks. -groans-
If it was on thier end, they'd simply adjust, and send out the taxes then. That would have been this week.
So, we called, and lo and behold, they fixed it, don't require a signiture, and are sending us our taxes on Friday! Yay!
State on the other hand.... well, let's just say that our "lovely" and "brilliant" govoner cut the staff in the tax department in half. Normally, we get state back within 2-3 weeks of sending it in. We sent it in 4 weeks ago, and when I checked today, they are still only processing claims they recieved on or before February 9th. In the 2 weeks since we last checked, they've lept forward a whopping 4 days on when they recieved the files.
I am estimating a good 6-8 weeks yet, on top of the 4. Oh, well, it'll be a nice summer "bonus". ;)
