I have one and I like it for the cooking part. What I'm having a problem with is cleaning it. It's suppose to be an easy clean up griller......but I haven't found the secret to this claim.

Does anyone have one and if so, do you use it and like it? Is there something I am missing when it comes to easy clean up? Please let me in on the secret! I used mine last night and I just left it on the counter in hopes that I would get some help from you guys this morning. TY in advance!

I just clean it like anything else, dish soap and water, have had no problems.

I just use paper towels until the gunk is gone. It helps if it has cooled down before you attempt to clean it.

Well...I don't know if the new ones are immersible.....but mine isn't. I wish I could take the cook surface out and put it in the dishwasher. I don't trust just wiping things down.....I'm a disinfecting freak (personal problem....nothing can be done about that...lol!).

Maybe my problem is the marinade I inject some of my meats with. I have this really cool food injector and some yummy cajun style marinade which I inject into the meat instead of just soaking it in it. But I made two delmenico <sp?> steaks last night and I didn't inject them and they came out fantastic but the gook is caked on the thing. I usually wait till it's cooled to clean but last night I tried it while it was still warm....and I don't find either way easy or actually as clean as I would like!

Oh gawd.....I am so anal at times!

Thanks guys!

Mine isnt submersible either. I just sit it on the side of the sink and wash it good.

Just a warning too, whatever you do, dont lick it clean while its hot, no matter how good you think the marinade is.

Is there a web site, mailing address or some way to contact the company? Tell them just what you've told us and see what they have to say.

Lixy---This has nothing to do with the grille. The suggestion about writting the company, sounds good.FYI-Did you know that George
Foreman,is back in training,for a boxing comeback?Lewis retired,
& I guess that he thinks that the paycheck,is worth it!I will be 60,
this week, & you may have the experience, but the reflexes aren't
nearly as fast!I'm exaggerating, but I used to catch, flies,on the table,to show how fast my hands were. Now,the fly would probably be gone for a few minutes, before my hand even moved.

Lixy,

You have to learn to delegate! :)

Give the clean up to hubby LOL....after all you cooked ;)

I find it easier to clean while it's still warm but not hot then the goo dosen't have chance to set.

I set mine on the counter (can't submerge ours, either), with the run-off over the edge of the sink. While it's still very warm (but unplugged!) I'll pour hot soapy water over it, and it just drains all the gunky stuff down into the sink. Once the worst of it's gone, a quick wipe down with a paper towel will do the trick.

If you're a disinfecting fanatic, after rinsing with the hot soapy wather, give it a quick wipe with a Clorox wipe, then rinse again and wipe dry with the paper towel :)

I clean mine while it's hot with a wet soapy paper towel.

Oh another thing I have done is laid wet paper towels on it and then closed it while it's still hot but unplugged...the steam loosens anything that might be stuck.

Oh, and dont use your penis as a scrub brush either...well at least not while its hot.

Wow! Great! This all sounds great!

Specially the delegating part BIBI! LOL!

Um....skip? Last I looked, I don't have a penis......but I'll pass along your wise advice to hubby when I give him the clean up job!

Actually.......as anal as I am about this sort of thing...I wouldn't trust him to clean it for me. But....on the plus side...he likes it that way and so we both win.....sorta!!!???

Gonna go warm it up now and then unplug it and lay those wet towels on it. It's been sitting since 8pm last night...yuck!

Thanks again everyone!

*hugs*

I don't have one but most of these things are usually fairly easy to clean...for stubborn food particles try using a simple trick from the pros who clean engine blocks for a living. Get yourself to the Auto Parts store and buy a large can of "GUNK" engine cleaner in the spray can, this is an invaluable tool in the kitchen! Spray the trouble spots with a conservative amount of the liquid and let it sit for about 3 mins. Meanwhile, as you are waiting for the “GUNK” to start its deep cleaning action, prepare a clear clean spot in the driveway and lay 3 regular sized cinderblocks in a "U" formation and nestle the Grill snugly inside. Then carefully take out the ‘Hubsters 5 horsepower gasoline powered Power washer, (any of the Honda models are always a reliable choices), and set the stream to the most narrow of spray settings and set the pressure to 5,000lbs PSI... and then blast away!!! That ought to get any of those stubborn food particles that have welded themselves to the cooking surface. Remember to wear use your safety glasses. and never operate power machery after drinking too much alcohol or while under the influence of narcotics...

P.S. Hubby used to be a diesal mechanic.....so I know we have "Gunk" around somewhere!

And again.......I want to thank everyone for your help and um....input! LOL!

I got the grill warm again.....wet some paper towels.....unplugged it...set the towels inside...and let it steam. After which I put it on the ledge of the sink and with more wet towels and some soap...I cleaned all the gunk off. Then, I got more towels and rinsed it and a few more towels and dried it.....and voila! Clean as a whistle (whatever that means)!

I'm gonna go invest in some stock in Bounty or Scott paper towels now! LMFAO!

Lixy one more hint for you one of the best way of disinfecting things is heat.

Hell I just treat mine like I do a gas grill. When I cook on it I let it stand till the next time (which is usually the next night) and then I plug it in, let it get hot and saturate a paper towel. I keep the towel dripping wet and make several passes over the heated surfaces letting the water and gunk drain into the little catch pan. Let it dry and then cook. I haven't had any problems with this method but I'm sure some wouldn't think it sanitary.... but then as Booger said heat disinfects best.

I had bits of the "last supper" on mine at this particular time (when I thought to ask this question) Bear.....and when I plugged it in it smoked a bit before "burning it off" and I thought....ewwwwww.....if that don't make me sick, nothing is gonna! LOL!

So...that's the reason I started this thread......cause with each cook session there would be more and more to clean off that I couldn't seem to get off!

It's clean as can be now though! Looks brand new as a matter of fact!

Ironically Catch22.....I just saw a test on taste buds yesterday and there are some folks who can tolerate hot & spicy much better than others.

Here's what I learned.......The human tongue is made up of tiny bumps (and don't ask me to spell the name of those bumps cause I'd pee my pants trying) and in spite of what we once thought about a zone for certain tastes....it's not true. All buds can taste all flavors. It's just that some tongues have more buds in certain spots and possibly less in other areas of the tongue and so the part with the most buds gets the best flavor.

Gawd....that sucked as an explaination! Wish I could draw it for you....but here we go at another attempt....

Picture the human tongue as a flat surface with polka dots on it. Some people have more polka dots really, really close together.....and other people have a dot here and a dot there and maybe a small cluster way in the back....or maybe not!

Depending on how many "polka dots" one has....and how close together they are......the more you can taste a hot flavor or a bitter flavor. Example: Do you know someone who can bite and chew a jalapena <sp?> or habenero pepper and if you took a bite you would gasp and lose your breath....but they just laugh at you and have another bite? Well......they have less "polka dots" than you do!

I figure it this way...........if we are more sensitive to hot and spicy....than we get the best effect from performing oral......and the guy/girl who can eat a hot pepper and laugh at you is surely missing out on more than they know.....so we get the last laugh!!!!

FYI, the Foreman Grille should come with a cleaner, it lookd like a paint scraper, but with 3 grooves in the bottom. start at the back, and work your way forward, its easy as cake.

Are these things good? Is there less fat?

Krazy has got it right!!!......and paper towels with detergent water on them gets the grease and the smaller particles. Open the grille so that the bottom drains into the sink and scrubba dub dub!

I can not eat hot stuff at all. I would rather taste what I am eating or licking!

Yep! I got that KrazyKU! I was talking more about the nooks and crannies and that spatula don't work for shit on those....lol! I did what Lil suggested initially.....and warmed it up, unplugged it and set really damp paper towels in it. It steamed the gunk loose....and then I did the hot, soapy water thing...and voila....it's clean as new now! TY so much!

Yes Catch22......the grill is great! It cooks with no need for oil or butter or even non-stick spray and it's tilted to drip off the fat (if there is any) and the meat doesn't sit and cook in it's own fat! The lid and the bottom are the cook surfaces so there is no need to turn the meat either!

Lixy,

I think you found your own answer. The grill may not need no stick spray.......but maybe it would be easier to clean if you tried using it anyway! :)

Teddy Bear

I would hesitate to use no-stick spray unless the instructions say you can. Many products say not to.

I dug out the instructions to my non-stick fry pan:
"We recommend that you do not use aerosol no-stick cooking sprays to grease the pan. Vegetable oil sprays have a low smoke point and burn easily, causing a sticky build-up on the surface of the pan."
