I have had the hiccups since 6 am! (off and on) and at this point I'd do just about anything for a permanent cure.
Everyone seems to have their never fail cure for hiccups. What's yours?

BOO!
Somebody told me that you scare somebody with hiccups. Did that help?
I have also heard that drinking a glass of water helped.
In any case, I sure hope you get rid of them. They're sure frustrating.

LMFAO@db!!!!!
I was once told to hold my breath and count to 1000. I later figured out that the "good samaritan" really didn't like me much! LOL!
OK....this is a bit awkward to do......but fill a large glass with water.......hold it in front of you......bend over the glass......now drink from the opposite side......the side furthest from your body. You'll have to tilt the glass outward instead of in to you as you drink. Drink slow and steady......all the while, leaning more and more forward and tilting the glass further and further (the bottom comes in towards you....the rim going away).
Does that make sense??? I promise it works......if not for any other reason but that it is so peculiar to drink this way that you concentrate on this act instead of the hiccups.
Oh...and if you hiccup while doing this.....you'll have to stop and start all over again!
The only way I get rid of my hiccups is to take a deep, deep breath and continually swallow as I hold the breath, till I can't anymore....and if I hiccup while doing this....I start all over again!
Good luck hun!
Oh....hey! There is always peanut butter on the roof of your mouth. But...that's in extreme cases......lol! Never mind!
Eat a tablespoon of granular sugar. It hardly ever fails.

Honest to heavens, Eliza....go get some bread, go down to your local duck pond. Feed the bread to the ducks. Poof, hiccups go away.
At least, it worked when I was six....and the few times I've used it as an excuse to feed ducks as an adult.
Basically it's the same theory as Lixy....distract yourself from the hiccups, and they'll go much more quickly. HEY, I bet a serious orgasm would do it! ;)

lmao..you guys kill me..If nothing else you gave me a good giggle.... well..right now is an "off" time..so I carry the hope that it's permanent. *crosses fingers*Hey...have you ever been someplace and hiccuped and it echoed? lol..I was at a WallMart w/ my Mom and got them while we were in the little eatery. And it echoed sooo loud we started to giggle. Which caused more hiccups...which echoed..and..well...lol you get the picture.... But anyway.....the morale of this whole thread is HICCUPS SUCK!...lol
Thank you all! (((HUGS))))

sure fire way to solve the hiccups..
take your hand.. form a fist... take that fist.. place it in the center of your chest (between your breasts) and firmly rub your knuckles over your sturnum (sp) in an up and down motion... put some strong pressure.. do this for about a minute (often less) and the hiccups will be gone. :)

awwwww sorry to hear of you malady babe, I'm thinking a nice earth shattering orgasm might do the trick. Hey it works for headaches, why not hiccups? LOL

Hold your hand up in front of you....then try to get your fingers as close together as possible...without touching
If they touch you have to spread your fingers and start again

I've found that cupping my hands loosely over my nose and mouth, so that my breathing is slightly restricted helps me when I have hiccoughs. I think it's the same principle as breathing into a paper bag when you're hyperventilating.

I have a certain fix
Fill up a bucket of water and stick your head in it completely submerged.
keep it there without removing it for 15 minutes.
you will never hiccup again :D

My dad taught me to take a deep breath, swallow as much air as you can, and then hold your breath as long as possible. Then let it out real slow. It works for some weird reason, so I've always done it. But my husband thinks I'm crazy and won't ever even try it!:D
