Yummm

One year for Easter I had my students find natural things to use to dye the eggs...tea was a popular idea.

we have a lot of ingredients in side beside the tea

we cook the eggs for 8 min first, then slightly hit the eggs until the skin crack up. then put the black tea in, then add the 5 stars flavour. then 2 spoon of soya sauce and a bit suggar. Then let it slowly very slowly cook for 2 hours.

then your eggs smell like Oolong tea and taste like soya sauce with 5 stars.

Wow, never had that but my experience is that I love almost every Chinese dish I've ever had. Bet I'd love this since I like both Oolong tea and soya sauce.

Question, though, what are the five star flavors? That I'm not familar with.

Thanks.

I think you're talking about what we'd call Star Anise, aren't you CP? It'd fit with the rest of the recipe you're describing. It sounds delicious, and I've never done anything like it before. Gonna have to try! They look lovely too.

5 star powder is a mix of 5 spices

fennel seed
star anise
ginger
cloves
cinnamon

I use it in a lot of the Asian style dishes I make.

Here I repeat in detail. Please read again

- we cook the eggs in water for 8 min first,
- then slightly hit the eggs until the skin crack up. Do not peel off the skin just leave it like that coz when the skin crack, the flavor and color of the Tea can go in.

-Then put the black tea in, then add the 5 stars flavor mixed poweder(or just actually 5 stars pieces). . then 2 spoon of soya sauce(depend on how salty you want) and a bit sugar. Then let it slowly very slowly cook for 2 hours. Then turn off the stove. Then let your eggs sit in the pot the longer is the better. coz the flavorer of the tea and soya sauce can get into the eggs deeper. That is why people suggest cook it today and eat it tomorrow.

then your eggs smell like Oolong tea and taste like soya sauce with 5 stars

for 6 eggs add at least 2 table spoon of Oolong Tea
for 5 stars add at least 2 table spoon of the powder. but if in pieces add 5 to 6 pieces.
