Hullo there, I have a problem, and I was wondering if anyone has an idea to what might be causing it.

I'm on the pill, and just before and after my period I get very sore around my lips and can tend to be itchy too - also sex hurts too. I thought at first it could be thrush so I bought some cream. Although it soothes it, the problem doesn't seem to go away. Could it just be because I'm on my period? Or something else, any sort of ideas would be much appreciated :)

Thanks

I suggest going to your docotrs and see what they say. I presume your in a sexual relationship because your on the pill. I dont meen to sound harsh or a nything but i dont think it could be the pill at all cause ive been on the pill for over 5 years years continously and ive never had any symptoms like that before.

I hope everything works out for u ok.

If its just when you have your period, could it be an allergic reaction to the pads/tampons you use? I've found there are a few brands I have to avoid.

But check with your doctor. :)

It could very well be a case of an allergic reaction to the feminine hygiene product you are using.....but that you say it NEVER seems to go away makes me think that this sounds like the main symptons of a vaginal yeast infection. Many things can bring this on and it won't go away by itself!

If you had been taking an antibiotic...it can kill the good bacteria in your vagina and a yeast infection might occur. Antibiotics disrupt the PH balance in your vagina.....and so eating yogurt with live cultures can help you avoid this in this future. Another cause could be that you are contracting it from a sexual encounter. I know this because my first boyfriend had to be treated, as well as me, because I kept getting yeast infections and all other causes were ruled out. It's not an STD, as such...but just a bacteria that can be passed from one person to the other. The man involved may never have a sympton...but can still pass it to you. Also....constant, irritating rubbing of the vagina and/or vaginal walls can cause this. Tight jeans and no panties....or the constant deposit and removal tampons (especially if they and you are dry)....just for a couple of examples.

In any case.....this can get EXTREMELY irritating....to the point of scratching your vagina to bleeding. It WON'T go away by itself.....and you cannot diagnose yourself for the first time and just use an OTC medication.....without making sure that it is indeed a minor yeast infection.

Get thee to a gyno hun! I feel your agony!
