I was just reading an article on the CNN website about this and realized I didn't know much about it. So I did a little brousing on the net. I was surprised to learn that it is a practice that seems to be growing again around the world.

I was also surprised to learn that more and more women, especially in europe are taking more than one husband.

Another aspect of it is the concubine, seems more and more couples are taking them in, of both sexes.

Was just wondering what everyones thoughts on the subject was?

I am happy with only one hubby, and I like the dating idea. I would not want to be one of more than one wife either, but if I was would want to be the one he had sex with. And would he let me have sex with any of the others?...sounds complicated to me..

Yahoo has an excellent group on polygamy you might want to check out. There are also some other good sources if you do a Google search.

What you all ^^^^ may be more interested in is polyamory, which is simply more than one love at a time. And yes, *all* of them are complicated. :)

And you know, I found the most complicated part of being polyamorous is remembering which person goes with which food allergy.:fly:

Haroun al Raschid (he of the Arabian Nights) said "A man with one wife is a slave, a man with two wives is a king." Not that I agree with him, of course. No, dear. I wasn't thinking that.... Of course I love you . Put that down, love, I was only ------

having_fun,

I'm happy, and yes, comfortable, with one wife. I can only assume that the emotional components of one’s relationships are different when more than one spouse is involved. I'll admit that the, ah... administrative complications also deter me.

gekkogecko,

...but only if that's the way you'd go. With my luck I'd piss off all my wives at the same time. Then, well...

Tried polyamory but could never find anyone quite as wonderful as my wife. Also learned that I need the closeness and attachment of a relationship, not just casual sex, but my wife found she could enjoy the casual sex. Talk about the reversal of our original ideas going into it. So we talk about it and hope someday to meet the right people, people you can love and trust, just like you do your spouse. Friends with benefits as it were.

Hey Lovediva. Isn't more than two appendages a bit of a waste?

Crichton, I agree totally with your comments -- I have found that I need "friends with benefits"

I'm happy with my wife. I know I was terribly lucky to find such a great gal. :)

Osuche,

The key of course is finding those people. I know people who are into open relationships, and I know people who are friends, but right now those are different circles.

Crichton -- yes, it's rare to find such people. I have occasionally been so blessed...but very few people fit the criteria for "friends with benefits."

Good luck finding another for yourself...
