Bob Keeshan who entertained a generation of children as Captain Kangaroo,died Friday morning at the age of 76.Captain Kangaroo debuted in 1955 and ran for the next 30 years.The programme popular amoung a generation of kids won 6 emmy awards,3 gaberiels and 3 peabody awards.Each day Captain Kangaroo with his walrus moustasche and Capt's coat would wonder through his treasure house and chat with Mr.Greenjeans played by Hugh Brannum.He would talk with his puppet animal friends Bunny Rabbit and Mr. Moose who loved to tell Knock-Knock jokes."I was impressed with the potential for a positive relationship between grandparents and grandchildren,so I chose to portrait an elderly character."Keeshan said of Captain Kangaroo.

Thats what I was thinking too.Great minds were entertained by great children's TV shows.

I loved him too. He was special to many of us I am sure.

Great...another link to my past severed! It's bad enough trying to tell my kids about albums, now this?

What a sad announcement. I'm sure he'll be missed by many.
