Bob Keeshan, AKA Captain Kangaroo, died today. He was 76. Mr. Keeshan's "Captain Kangaroo" debuted on CBS television in 1955 and ran for 30 years before moving to public television for six more.

He entertained me, and I suspect many American Pixies, for many years. The format was simple: Each day, Captain Kangaroo, with his sugar-bowl haircut and coat with huge pockets , would wander through his Treasure House, chatting with his good friend Mr. Green Jeans.

I was so sorry to hear about "Captain Kangaroo"; thoughts of him bring back lots of memories of sitting in front of that huge black and white TV with the itty-bitty picture (back in the mid 50s), watching him and Mr. Green Jeans.

A truly great man has passed on. He gave so many fond memories to so many. His legacy is one of honor and humanity.

Do any of you Pixies remember a character that came on his show called, "The Banana Man"? I seem to be the only one that does.

THANK YOU, SCARECROW! I'm only partially mentally deficient...

You are the first one I know who remembers him. He pulled a cardboard train from his coat and filled it full of bananas.

Na, na, na, na, Naaaah! WOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!

So many of the 'ol' timers' passing on. Sad. Those old shows had a specialness to them, didn't they?
