1)... While in the US never ask anyone if they have a fag!

2)... Never eat at a Outback Steakhouse!

3)... While eating out keep in mind that the salad is not on the same plate as the meal. You get it separate. You will be asked what do you want on the salad. Don't say what do you have. You will get a twenty page list of things to have on salad!

Appetizers are pre meal food on a menu...for snacking and drinking. Entree is the words to look for on the menu for the main course.

I remember some wonderful people from Oz telling me our menus were different.

1) Pissed means angry, not drunk.

2) Stay away from trailer parks. That's where most of "Cops" is filmed.

3) Yankees, or Yanks, live north of the state of Virginia. Never call someone in the southern US a Yank.

Unless you are wearing a sailor suite, only call people "mate" that you plan on spending time in jail with:rolleyes: or want to spawn a family with.;)

LMFAO!!!!!

Just in case some of you don't know... "Cops" is a "reality" tv program where the cameras follow law enforcement officers during their work day/night, and capture all sorts of crimes, strange happenings, etc., on film. And, it does seem, that a lot of times, they do end up in a trailer partk!!!

When I traveled to Asia, I was amazed at the images that the rest of the world gets of the US. Of course, there is CNN and other mainstream news outlet shows, but it seemed that the most popular US show was "Cops", and other of the "Jerry Spring" genre. Of course, there were the 6-month old reruns of sitcoms, but the "reality" shows got a lot of air time.

Some Chinese ladies that were planning travel to the US were seriously concerned about getting mugged or worsed.

I assured them that if they stayed in very public and well-lit places, there was very little danger. And stay away from trailer parks! Bubba don't take to kindly to ferners! Gotta be 'Mericun!

Sad, but generally true...

P.S. - My apologies to all the civilzed Pixies who have chosen manufactured housing as their domicile.

Your media does not do the place justice at all. We get the same stuff. Talk shows and kill everything in sight stuff on tv from the US.

If that's all you get......it's sounds like you are being bombarded by propaganda by your own media!

We do more than kill people and then go on talk shows to brag about it! LMFAO!

That could very well be. The media here is run by the guy that owns Fox and he is Australian.

It's the price you pay for freedom; unbridled greed, hedonism, and stupidity.

Damn, I love this country! :)

I was told that many people think that the people on Jerry Springer represent the idea of Americans to many people in other places.:spin: Funny thing is even Americans think the peeps on Springer are freaks.

That is the TV guide for my area for today. It is the free to air guide and not cable.

tv here in the US is a lot more censored than what you get in Oz....after 8pm you can't get any other kind of nudity and/or cursing lol..you have to have access to hbo or cinemax ...which are extra paid for channels of course lol,.....the "land of the free" is indeed...a lot less "free" than what Oz sure seemed like to me, especially with the tv show selections...

NEVER ask in a bar if you can bum a fag, or push in someone's stool.

Americans still have 1 cent coins (pennies) that can weigh in total

almost a kilo (2 pounds) by the end of the day.

Pack in a bottle of Schweppes Dry Ginger ale syrup, 'cos you can't

get a scotch and dry for love nor money.

Milk is usually half strength and "gravy and biscuits" are neither.

Traffic on the wrong side of the road is dis-orienting when you

are trying to work out how to get home.

Carry a cell phone or walkie talkies in case you get separated from the group:D

1).. As much wet weather gear as one can carry including a lifevest!

Grumble

well I am certainly getting some good hints, luckily for me I am going to be in the company of a lot of Pixies friends, that is a very special thing for me, to be invited to stay at so many homes of people that only know me from my postings ect.

I built my trip around people not places and it is as exciting as can be.

If any pixies are visiting Australia, you can count on a place to stay and a delighted Grumble.
