And why?
I was just wondering who influences who you are and how you wish to be.

You don't mean comic book hero but real life/real person hero?
I'll have to think about this a little more. :)

My real life hero would have to be my father. He taught me how to be a man and is the one good, honest man I know.
Celebrities I admire are Robert Anton Wilson, Buckminster Fuller, and Ghandi.
Fictional characters would include Jesus Christ, Hagbard Celine and Frodo Baggins.

Fred Hollows, he gave sight back to hundreds in poor countries.
And Nickola Tesla, he developed AC power, and many other electrical inventions, plus the ones that important rich folk don't want well known, (wireless power transmission, battery free electric car, and others).

Speaking as not only an Engineer, but as a important rich white dude Wireless Power Transmission, and Cars that run off of water are impossible and belong in science fiction.
I also believe a moon base is important for our national security. See the Mohammedean terrorist all worship the moon. Don't believe me look its their holy symbol! Now are they really going to fuck with us when we show that we not only conquered thier pagan God, but built a giant "laser" on his face.
Heck they would start believe we were the all seeing eye of Allah! Which is Arabic for moon.
OK I have to stop being a republican for now. Time to go look for a job.

My list would be rather extensive. So man people have influenced me in trying to make this world a better place. One I would deffenately add to my list is the late Fred Rogers.Yes thats right,Mr.Rogers.The man was genuine. He deeply cared about people and represented the good in all of us.With all of the crap kids watch and are influenced by, Mr.Rogers stood out as an oaisis of gentle humour and teaching the value of respecting everyone. This man will never be replaced.

I'd have to say my father and my husband.
My mother died when I was 10. My dad, who was 67 at the time, raised me by himself.
I married my husband because he has all the qualities I wish I had and I knew if I ever couldn't stand up for myself he would do it for me. And any man who takes the time to kiss a half dozen stuffed animals so his little girl will sleep better is my hero. Especialy when she's convinced you have to kiss both their heads and their butts before they sleep well! (I have no idea why)

((((((Kissyface)))))))........Good Gawd that^^^^^made me smile hun!
I consider heros and personal influences to be two seperate entities........
So......my heros are Jimmy Carter for bringing Habitat for Humanity to our attention (though not the founder)......the firemen/women of 9/11 (not to mention the policemen/women and everyone else who risked their own lives for the sake of all who perished or suffered)......our soldiers (from all countries involved) in the wars fought for freedom and democracy and against terrorism!
My personal influence.......my mother! There are so many reasons, but I'll sum it up with this........she had the hardest life of anyone I know personally.....and she could still smile and make others smile!
