In North Carolina, 7 kids died when their car crashed at a speed between 85 and 100mph. The driver was 15 and not one kid had their liscense.

Got me thinking...what is the legal age to drive where you are?

Sex with someone of the opposite sex (heterosexual sex) is legal once you are both over 16.

It is a criminal offence for any male to have sex with a female who is under 16. This means that if a boy has sex with a girl under 16, he is breaking the law, even if the girl agrees to have sex with him.

There is no age limit for boys, which means that a boy of any age can legally have sex with a girl as long as she is over 16.

17 and I did have to research it once jsut to make sure I wasn't going to jail. Also there is no four years rule. i.e: You cna be 80 y/o and go around sodomizing consenting 17 y/o girls (and boys now too thanks Supreme Court) and no one can say shit! However if you are 18 and you get caught eating out your 16 y/o girlfriend, then you are going to be sodomized in jail, child molestor!

On a related note, the Mann Act effectively sets a national age of consent at 16, but it is 18 if you leave the U.S.

Legal age you can drive is 16, but you have a temp license until you are 18 then you get a full license... some kind of graduated "earn your license" thing. However, you can get what is called a school permit at the age of 14, which can only be used to drive back and forth from home to school/school activities.

It is very confusing... depends upon your age, gender, what the definition of a child is and there are different circumstances in which different definitions apply ..... sheesh - we always said anything under 18 was jailbait.... you know 16 will get ya 20???? From what I understand from this, you can be 12 years of age and still be ok for sex if the person is up to 5 years older than you... so if you are 13, you can have sex with an 18 year old!!!

But..... there is another area in the Iowa Code that gives parents the power to press charges against someone who has had sex with your under 18 year old - male or female - if that person is older than 18!!! Confusing!!!!!!!!!!!!:confused:

In addition to that - (isn't there always something?) If you allow your under 18 kid to have sex with someone who is 5 years older, the state can charge the parents with child abandoment and abuse!!!!

You can also emancipate your child at the age of 16 in Iowa... :confused:

OMG!!!! My head is spinning!

I'm in farm country.....and so the legal age to drive if your parents (or family) work a farm is 16.....but it's a learner's permit and you have to have a licensed driver with you at all times on the road (on the farm it don't matter)...at age 17 you receive a "Cinderella license"......in which you cannot drive on the road after midnight (or whatever curfew is now-a-days). And at 18 a full fledged license.

Legal age to drink beer/wine/liquor (it's all alcohol...a drug.....sinful...whatever they are calling it now-a-days).......21.....no exceptions......and it's 18 to buy smokes (just a bit of FYI.....I'm 45 and still get carded for cigs sometimes.....it's really strange.....but flattering.....and startling to the person who cards me).

Age of sexual consent.......16 (m/f)......but as I said...I live in a really rural area and who knows who's doing what with who??!!!

In California,,the legal age for drinking is 21.Everything else is 18.

driving depeds here... i think its 16 u can get a learners permit.. and you gotta hold it for 12months before a provisional and then its like 6 months after that for a license..

USA every state is 21 for ANY alcohol

consensual sex in the US has new laws.. its like for those 14+ for consented sex it is 2 years.. meaning a 14yr F can have consented sex with up to a 16yr old M legally... nothing younger.. and at 16 its 4 yrs consented sex... meaning a 16yr F can have sex with a 20yr M legally and same goes for males... (at least thats what im told by my state trooper friend, its good to know the technicalities when your 18 and live in the party scene)

To drink in the bar..it's 19. To buy booze it's 19. As the same to buy cigarettes. Ontario Law.

16 is the age to consent to have sex..but it depends on the circumstances....I know a girl who was 18 and got the guy she was with charged for having sex with a minor.

You also need to be 18 to vote.

CURRENT LAW

The Criminal Code does not now criminalize consensual sexual activity with or between persons 14 or over unless it takes place in a relationship of trust or dependancy and by other special circumstances like assualt.

The act goes on to list special circumstances such as a caregiver taking advantage of their position of trust etc., but as it now stands and as it has been played out with the foster girls I care for, they can sleep with anyone over the age of 14 and unfortunately they do.I had one just turned 15 year old who was with a 28 year old in a sexual relationship and nothing could be done unless she decided to cry wolf and make false claim the act was not consensual I believe the law changed in 1988 from the age of 16 and it is being discussed to make amendments to the act to change the age of consent once again back to 16.......which I think would be a good thing,,,,

Sexual intercourse with young person

124. (1) Any person who has unlawful sexual intercourse with another person who is under the age of 17 years is guilty of a crime.

Charge:

Sexual intercourse with a young person under the age of 17 years.
(2) It is a defence to a charge under this section to prove that the accused person believed on reasonable grounds that the other person was of or above the age of 17 years.

(3) The consent of a person against whom a crime is alleged to have been committed under this section is a defence to such a charge only where, at the time the crime was alleged to have been committed –

(a) that person was of or above the age of 15 years and the accused person was not more than 5 years older than that person; or

(b) that person was of or above the age of 12 years and the accused person was not more than 3 years older than that person.

(4) This section is to be taken to be in force from 4 April 1924.

(5) Subsection (3) is not a defence to a charge under this section in the case of anal sexual intercourse.

(6) Nothing in subsection (4) impugns or otherwise affects the lawfulness of a conviction arising from conduct that occurred before the commencement of the Criminal Code Amendment (Sexual Offences) Act 1987.
