I use the program InterVideo WinDVD to play DVD's on my laptop, however, I find that if I need a screenshot of a DVD, pressing PrintScreen to capture what you have paused it doesn't work. Windows Media Player is no better. Are DVD's protected from this kind of thing because of copyright laws or something?
If someone knows and could please help, ace! ;)

I don't think so....I use PowerDVD and can capture screen shots with it...
Unless its a zone thing ukG²....but i cant see why they would allow some zones to capture and others to not :)
Your program may have a glitch and need reloading is all

I've tried on 2 programs many times with different DVD's. Even ejecting the DVD once I've PrintScreened it doesn't help.
Damn today's technology.

I think that it might be something about how WinDVD handles the playback to the screen (Active-X?). I just tried it with version 4 of WinDVD and it did not work for me either.

Yeah, that's the version I have of WinDVD (v4), the one with the purple screen and a few bubbles when you go into it.

I was just playing with this and there is a capture button that saves the current frame as a BMP file to the hard disk... have you tried that yet? In any case even that feature (at least on my PC) has an odd problem with black coming though as transparent so when you open it is has see through holes :) ... strange. That is likely more something to do with my PC. You might want to give the frame capture a try (it's the button the looks like a little camera or you can just press "P" while viewing the movie and it puts them in a buffer where you can select which ones to save).
