I love "Cats in the Cradle" but I know WildIrish hates it and I can't help but feel his negativity whenever I hear it.

Does anyone else spend too much time here to know other Pixie musical tastes?

Pretty much:D

Just follow the "Sing to Me Baby" thread...although most people who pay attention here know I streak through the threads naked, singing "YMCA" just to piss off Skippy baby. ;)

Oh, and Steph? Want to really torture WI? Play "Butterfly Kisses" right after that. Just have the Kleenex ready. :D

IAKaraokeGirl,

I certainly like the image of you streaking through a - any - thread naked, and I remember the disco hit "YMCA".

I am unfamiliar with "Butterfly Kisses". Do you know here I might be able to find the lyrics, or better yet, an audio clip of it?

Yep! But, I don't let it get to me Steph!

Just listen with pleasure and block his negative vibes.....LOL! Easier said that done you say? Try this....

Picture WI prancing through the woods.....all nekky....with a book about Little Boy Blue in hand....and his "moon" reflecting in the babbling brook passing through the forrest.....and a black cat crossing his path to get to the cradle that has a spoon in it with cream on it.......from (you guessed it)......his excitement of being the main subject of such a wonderful song!

Think that'll work? :D

Musical Influences

Aqua~ lllllllllluuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrvvvvs TMBG and has an appreciation for Van Hagar, loves Led Zep, and Weird Al

Skippy Baby~ taught me to love Cake and hooked me up with some good new alt rock music ....incidentally the name "skippy baby" comes from a song that reminds me of him that he HATES!!!!!!!

WI~ will never convince me that Metallica is supreme.

All three of the above will lapse into an 80's groove :D

PF~ sent me looking through some Retha where as I had only skimmed the surface before.

Lixy~ Steven Tyler, need anything else be said???

Steph~ James Taylor, TMBG too and folk- type music

Scotzoid~ biker music:D, Clapton

Rev. Silky~ hooked me on 311

CoachKnight~ made me feel less insecure about my musical choices with his love of cheesy 80's hairbands:D

How crazy does it sound that I enjoy Metallica, Korn, Sepultura & Papa Roach, yet cry at Cat's in the Cradle and Butterfly Kisses?

Bob Carlisle - Christmas Shoes

It was almost Christmas time
There I stood in another line
Try to buy that last give or two
I'm really in Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me
Was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing around like little boys do
And in his hands he had
A pair of shoes

And his clothes were worn and old
He was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?
Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want it to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus tonight

They counted pennies for what seems like years
And cashier says son there's not enough here
He searches is pockets franticly
And he turned and he looked at me
And he said Momma made Christmas good in our house
Most years she just did without
Tell me Sir
What am I gonna do?
Some how I gotta buy her these Christmas shoes

So I lend the money down
I just had to help him out
And I'll never forget
The look on his face
When he said Momma's gonna look so great

Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?
Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want it to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus tonight

I know I won't regret some help as he thanked me and ran out
I know that God sent that little boy to remind me
What Christmas is all about

Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?
Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want it to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus tonight

I want it to look good
If Momma meet's Jesus tonight

It's actually insanely crazy :D

I'm now listening to "Old Man" by Neil Young and immediately thought of PF.

Actually, those were choices dictated by my last bandleader...what else could you do with a power guitar trio? My car radio buttons are set for Oldies, hard rock & recent rock(Matchbox 20 &such), but I listen to to almost anything but rap...spending a lot of time with Pink floyd lately, my respect for them grows steadily...

Cats in the Cradle lyrics
(PM me for a great MP3)

My child arrived just the other day;
Came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay.
He learned to walk while I was away.
He was talkin' 'fore I knew it.
And as he grew he said,
"I'm gonna be like you, Dad.
You know I'm gonna be like you."

Chorus :
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
"When you comin' home ?"
"Son, I don't know when.
We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."

Well, my son turned ten just the other day.
He said , "Thanks for the ball, Dad. Come on, let's play.
Could you teach me to throw ?" I said, "Not today.
I got a lot to do." He said, "That's okay."
And he walked away and he smiled and he said,
"You know,
I'm gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I'm gonna be like him."

Chorus

Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
"I'm proud of you. Could you sit for a while ?"
He shook his head and he said with a smile,
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please ?"

Chorus

I've long since retired, my son's moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
"I'd like to see you, if you dont mind."
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I could find the time.
You see my new job's a hassle and the kids have the flu,
But it's sure nice talkin' to you, Dad.
It's been sure nice talkin' to you."

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me,
He'd grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)

Chorus
