View Full Version : Well it's Christmas again...

*****WARNING this is not a warm and fuzzy thread*****
*****Read this at your own risk*****

The kids have wish lists made and posted on the fridge...
The lights are on the house...
The tree is decorated...
Our office parties have started...
The stores are all crowded...
Cards are being mailed...

And I feel like throwing up in the floor!

Am I the only one who isn't looking forward to Christmas?
I don't mean to bring everyone down, but I just don't enjoy
all the stuff that is involved with the holidays anymore.
I'm allready tired of the crowds. The "What are we gonna buy for _____?" The parades. The decorations. I swear if I hear one more bell ringer tell me Merry Christmas I am gonna scream!

In short I can't wait for Jan. 2 so all this crap will be over with!

I have been sooo busy with everyday that I have barely noticed it's Christmas. No one in the stores has said it, I have not sat on Santa's lap yet. I hope this weekend I slow down so the spirit can catch me:p

Well it looks like I will be spending my Christmas working in the acute psychi ward, whilst the kids spend time with their dad and DM works in the "community"~~~~~~~~#so, just going to take the rough with the smooth and make the most of it!~~~~~~~and have as much fun as the situation allows!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the spirit will catch me this year. I haven't had it for several years now. I just want to curl up and go to sleep till Jan. so it will all be over with.

I guess I am just a Grinch.

I don't like the commercialization of Christmas ... but the lights and music ... that I like. Some friends of ours made an "in-family" practice of just three gifts each in recognition of the three gifts given to the babe. Lot of sense to that, keeping the meaning of Christmas first. Wished we'd thought of that when the kids were small.

You're not a grinch, Bardog, just, like a lot of us, tired of the annual migration of cars to the malls. I understand that.

Can you sing "fa-la-la-la-la" with a cock in your mouth?:spin: I bet that would make his season bright;)

I am avoiding Christmas so far. The only time I've heard Christmas music so far is during physio (because it's pretty hard to escape when you're attached to that machine that shocks your muscles lol).

I'm still fairly fresh from school so my student debt takes away money that I'd like to spend on people . . . the money can be stressful.

I'm looking forward to the office Christmas party but I don't think I'll get the big, fat spirit back again until I have kids myself.

Gentlefolk,

Perhaps Christmas has been hidden behind a layer or two of merchandising...

However, I have found a nice gift idea for those Pixonians who want to "keep it real" and who also have children who enjoy playing with dolls.

Thanks to all of you for the support.

Lixy - just the thought is nearly enough to jingle my bells!!!

Jenna - My kids are 12 & 9 so those great Christmas mourning memories are just about gone. Guess I better try to enjoy them as best I can this year.

Festivus is from Seinfeld. George's father created it with the motto . . .

Festivus, for the rest of us!

It was his crazy reaction to commercialism :)

oh yes-- the government has turned Christmas into an economic measuring stick--merchants think Christmas is an open inventation to raid our wallets...etc...etc.

But Christmas is still Christmas

I know not who enjoys Christmas most, those who open my gifts to them or me to see the delight in their eyes

The sharing of a special day with family and friends in each other's company

All I can say is that Christmas come what may, but bring it on for I am impatient for its delay

I seriously just try to get in the spirit but don't succumb to spending like a madman.

I'm still slowly getting into the mood for the holidays. I pity the employees at the physiotherapist's. I only have to endure the Christmas music an hour a day while I'm there (and I block it out by reading during most of my exercises) but they've had EIGHT HOURS of Christmas music A DAY for TWO WEEKS!!! The stupid head physiotherapist likes the station and he's pushy!

Didn't want to admit it.......yet I feel exactly the same way you do this year and last year!

I POKED and PRODDED myself (teehee.....just a bit-o-mental candy) today.......TO MAKE MYSELF FEEL THE SPIRIT!

Know what I did? Every year we have a "Christmas Angel" tree at work........and it wasn't put in place till yesterday (our company just moved to another town and things have been topsy turvy since the move) and so I had to be in the office and I was waiting to talk to the "big honcho" and I spied the tree with all the cards with descriptions of all the kids and young adults (they are all mentally challenged) on it....and I perused them all and chose two........and talked to the HMFIC (head mother fucker in charge.....lol....the boss......"big honcho").....and went back to work and kept thinking of one "angel" I didn't choose.......and went back at the end of my day and his card was still on the tree so I took him too.......and NOW I have a purpose and "THE SPIRIT"!

You say that your kids are nearly passed the point of....."the reason to get excited for Christmas".........and so I offer you a "reason"! Go to a local charity....see what they NEED....check your local Salvation Army chapter (is where my "angels" from the tree are from)! It's the feeling of giving and knowing you made a diffence that might be lacking in your spirit!

Just a thought hun!
