Ladies and gentleman, Christmas parties are almost upon us, and since just about every Christmas Party is a formal (well everyone that I have gone too has been one), what do the Pixie fasion critics say as to what they would like to wear--or suggest for this year 2003?

Myself I was thinking of my black 3 piece suit. I had planned on a black shirt with a bright red tie and my Holly-leaf Tie tac, special dress shoes and gun-metal gray spats.
....however I just got this Gold silk formal shirt. So now I am at odds as to the color of the tie to use with it.

any suggestions?:)

Yes...show me a pic of the shirt. If the shirt is the focal point then a solid deep dark red plain tie but if not then I would go with a striped or patterned tie that includes dark yellow or gold tones possibly on a red background. I'm super tie picky...You should just come pick me up and we can go shopping.:D

I just got this sexy black strappy sweater dress with great cream piping on the long jacket....hunting a pair of sexy ankle wrap black heels to go with!

I dare say you will look very sharp in this dress. If I may venture a suggestion, I would think if you have long hair, a silver hair piece would be stunning.

But thank you for the tie suggestion. Myself I love to buy them and am sad that I don't get much a chance to wear them. A good tie cost plenty enough but worth the $$$ if it is gone in good tastes. I was just looking at a deep yellow tie with cobolt blue print to see if it would match the shirt.....hmmmmmmm

That one sounds good, Vullkan!

Our Christmas party is next Friday and the invite says "house-y" - it's at a club called The House and they describe house-y as anything from jeans to a tux. It's the worst attire code EVER!

LOL Steph!!!
I got two words for ya:

WEAR
LATEX!!!!!!!

I'm sure it fits within the "jeans to tux" range somewhere! :)

My husband's work has a party every year....and each year since he's been there it's been downgraded from "elegant" the first year, to "wear whatever you feel like" this year......and so on down through the years!

I'm really rather disappointed because I don't get dressed to the nines too often and I truly looked forward to dolling myself up!

*sigh*

I am disappointed to hear this Ms Lixy and Steph. Sad as it seems that just about the only thing left to get dressed up for is funerals and weddings.

I have spent the entire day shoe shopping and am convinced there are no sexy shoes in this whole town for me:( I have less than a week til the party and need sexy/ sophisticated shoes. No sandals, no satin, no rhinestones or glitz. Bah Humbug!!!!

Wow Lil! Sorry to hear that! I was on a cool site yesterday (sorry..but I don't have the link) and they had some really fanfuckintastic shoes! Let's see.....I was looking for av's (temp av's) and I typed Christmas costumes into Google search.....least I think that's where I saw em! Maybe you could look online and get some sent via overnight mail! Just a thought hun! I know you'd like to try them on first...but it might be the only way! Hey....try Frederick's of Hollywood! LOL!

And Vullkan....I know....I know! I think I'll just dress to the nines anyway.....and all the rest of the group can feel underdressed! LOL!

Don't get me started. I've seen some people show up at funerals dressed in terrible clothes. How can you not dress in dark colours for a funeral?

i thought by being a military wife i wud at the very least be able to wear a sexy SEMI formal dress each year if not a formal one , but nooooooooooooooooooooooooo the damn maintainers think thats to much work and were going "buisness casual" !!!!! how shite is that ? all us wives want is at least once a year to look REAL good but we cant even have that :( (and yes all of the unit parties have been like this so why the hell am i still shocked when it happens)

Mine is this weekend, and although lots of my fellow employees will come in jeans, I always dress up, just feels right. But since the evening looks to end in sexy half-dressed up stocking kind of sex, it makes it all worth it.

Ms Lilith, wish I had known you where in a shoeless problem--I was in about 15 malls the other day, and there was some fine ladies shoes I saw at Nordstrums.

Ms Nikki1979--what branch of the service is your husband, airforce? If I do have to guess it sounds that a NCO is in charge of the party--I am surprised that his officer allows an informal X-mas party. I don't recall Christmas parties in the army being anything less then Formal--but then there was lots of "Formal".

I found shoes! :line:

They are cheap and not at all what I want, but they will look good over Mr. Lil's shoulders anyway;)
