I was wondering how many females around here know what Pearly Penile Papules are? I have to explain to my girlfriend soon what they are and how it's not an STD, it's just something a lot of males have and then grow out of when they get older. If my memory serves me right, I don't remember ever learning about it in high school sex ed or anything even though a large 30% of males get them.
Here is a page about them http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic313.htm
Background: Pearly penile papules are small dome-shaped to filiform skin-colored papules that typically are located on the sulcus or corona of the glans penis. Commonly, lesions are arranged circumferentially in one or several rows and often are assumed wrongly to be transmitted sexually.
Any guys here that have this or had to bring this up before?

I have them, haven't had to explain them to a girlfriend before, but a female friend says that in her experience they aren't uncommon.

I see, does that mean you've never had to explain to your girlfriend before and she was fine with it?
With it occuring in 30% of males, I can see why it's not uncommon.

No, it means I've never had a girlfriend such that the need might have ever arisen.

I've never heard of them before unless they're related to HPV which is fairly common . . .

Ya it's not HPV and that's the weird thing, they are just there lol, they don't change or anything.

Are they the little bumps on the base of the penis head? ie, pull the foreskin right back and there they are?
Cos if that's what you mean, then I've had them for as long as I can remember and never knew some other guys don't get them! I just thought they were a normal part of every dick! Wow. Learn new things all the time!

Never heard of them or been with a man with them but I can see how it would be difficult to distinguish between those and an STD so it's always the best move to see a Dr.

Ya CaspterTG you just move the foreskin back and they are on the bottom ring of your head. They come in 1 or 2 straigh rows around it. Have you been with any girls that didn't seem to care about it?
Lilith seeing a Dr. is a good idea but they are quite easy to distinguish if you have them from say something like warts or pimples or something else. These are very distinct in their description.

I would hope it's not HPV b/c that's genital warts which is an STD that can have serious complications, especially if transmitted to a female.

I've never seen or heard of them.....and typically American men are circumcised (least all the American men I've been with).....so I was wondering......is it mostly a happening with uncircumcised men?
Maybe I should read the entire article...*hangs head in shame for lack of time to read the entire thing and counting on my friends to enlighten me*
Come to think of it......I've never been with an uncircumcised man! Someone spank the livin shit outta me! I gotta travel more!

Yes it happens to uncircumsized men. I wonder if the jews had it right all along, not trying to be discriminating but they have been circumsizing for hundreds of years for these reasons.
Still I'm surprised more people have not heard of them. They also don't bring it up in Sex Education in school. Hell it happens to 30% of healthy uncircumsized males, why wouldn't they at least mention something.

Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say they've been circumsizing out of fear of tiny little white bumps that don't do anything except sit there quite happily watching the show. I suspect they started circumsizing probably for a few religious reasons....:jester:
Ok, seriously - I've attached a picture I took a long time ago, to verify and use as an example to those who don't know what we're talking about.
Hope we're all talking about the same thing!!
I just always thought it was a part of my cock that was normal and everybody had them. I never knew only some people get 'em!
Don't bother me, tho!

Yup we're talking about the same thing. That's exactly what it looks like!
And don't worry you have nothing to fear, girls seem to know about this through talking with friends and don't find it a problem during oral/sex.

I have never heard of it before and in my generation circumcision was performed on the vast majority of innocent foreskins, mine included. I dont have any of those tiny lesions. (or any big ones either LOL)

My ex-husband (uncircumcised) had them. At least 3 other partners have had them also (1 circumcised, the other 2 uncircumcised). No, I didn't think anything of them. I knew they weren't genital warts or any other type or STD. I just thought of it as just being "them"...just another thing that made that man unique. It sure didn't stop me from enjoying intercourse or oral sex with them.

Yep same here, got them and had them for as long as I can remember. Never changing, never going away. I'm uncircumcised (thank cripes - I love my dick's little hood).
Never had a problem with girls and them, but then I come from the UK where being circumcised is rarer than not, so maybe the girls are used to them?
