View Full Version : Christmas Decorations

For the first time ever, my wife uttered some amazing words to me. She said that I had full control over the outdoor Christmas decorations. (My wife's "less is more" belief system is contradictory to mine... thankfully she also applies that theory to the bedroom.)

Naturally, I felt slightly dizzy at first. Once it passed, I called my neighbor to borrow his 25 ft ladder and went to work. Overall, I think it turned out well. What do you think?

Also, please post your own pics of holiday decorations, inside or out. I love to see new things. I've already got ideas for more next year, but don't want to lose my new found decorating freedom.

Oh skyler_m! That's wonderful! TY for sharing! We haven't had a chance to start ours yet (bad weather and roofing job abounds here) but as soon as we do I'll post for you too!

Lixy - Thank you. We had an unseasonably warm weekend right before Thanksgiving. That had EVERYONE out to do their decorations. That's the only reason I got the 25 foot ladder, mounted it in the bed of my truck, and climbed up to the top of the house. If it were freezing and windy, I wouldn't have done it.

Sharniqua - Thank you!:D

Lilith - Tacky comes next year when I recreate the Santa's workshop in the front yard and have a life size Santa and Sleigh fly over the house. For some reason, my wife thinks I always have big ideas. I think she's silly, though.

I've seen a garden here in the tropics where fake snow

was created by feeding styrofoam through a leaf blower.

Bugger of a clean-up afterwards though.

Very nice indeed!

I don't know if we're doing much for decorations, it's more Tyler's bag.

Oh please do nikki1979

There are always a couple like that and they are so gosh they are fun to look at. (please don’t do it next door:o ) I saw one last year the put Chevy Chase’s, Christmas Vacation to shame. LOL It was SO bright you thought you were on the Los Vegas strip when you rounded the corner. Matter of fact I think the three wise men were kneeling down, shooting craps. The baby Jesus was wearing sunglasses.

You’ve got a nice thing there skyler_m.
Go with caution! ;)

thanks, everyone. I normally wait until the weekend after thanksgiving to put up lights. I did it a week early since the temperature was about 35 degrees above normal and it was sunny.

babybunny - we drive around and look at lights in the evening, too.

nikki - Thank you. I try to keep things tasteful. I'm taking my digital cam out with me and am going to get some pics of other houses that are WAY overdone.

paprclphd - glad I could help.

skyer_m,

Nice - I love looking at houses covered in lights. We live in a townhouse so it is more difficult. I usually make do with candoliers in the windows and greenery surrounding it.

sillyme - I'm sure you make do quite well. Would love to see!

Gilly - I could do that, but be wary of what it would cost you. I've seen your incredibly sexy pics and I can think of what I'd really like as payment...:slurp: :dizzy: :lust:

So long as it doesn't take money.... ;)

Lord, I feel so inadequet now. I have a single 6ft spiral tree, two light up candy canes, and 3 18in spiral trees.

I'm a pathetic decorater... Ok, ok, if I had the money, I'd outline the entire house like a gingerbread house. Different colors, too. I'd love to have the money to just go all out, and make it look nice. Ah, well. We buy 1 or 2 things each year. Maybe it'll be a gingerbread house before too long. ;)

Oh, it wouldn't take money... would just need you to lower your standards. heehee.

Most of the lights that I have up were bought over the last 2 years the day after Christmas. That's the best time to get stuff for the following year. I'm working on a train design for next year...

I lucked out. When I moved into my house, the previous tenant left some of their decorations. So I have a slew of light that I didn't have to pay for. :D :jump:

SuccubusKitty - That's the best way to get some... Let's see what you've done with your booty... AND your lights
