:xmas: :xmas: :xmas: :xmas: :xmas:

I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet (still catching up on bills and waiting for the good ol' retroactive raise from work to enter my account) and I'm afraid to hit the malls with the cane and the brace.

I did notice that I didn't mind hearing Christmas music during physio today, though. It must be simply the flip of the calendar. I gritted my teeth through leg lifts and Bing Crosby on Nov. 27 but sang along to Mr. Crosby during my biking today.

What's the point of this thread? I dunno. Christmas stress, Christmas shopping and . . . for the Christians:

A woman was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable. And after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made her way
through the rushing crowds and to the elevator with her two kids.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year. Overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don't forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in it. She pushed her way into the elevator and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff.

When the doors closed she couldn't take it anymore and stated, "Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot."

From the back of the elevator, everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond, "Don't worry we already crucified him."

For the rest of the trip down in the elevator, it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

We are feeling it too Steph.. lol I detest the commercialization of Christmas more every year. What is so bad about it is that the kids seem to think they are entitled... to what we haven't figured out yet. :(

I think that is why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday... :D

Well, if you do get out to the mall, you do have the advantage of carrying a cane... just "accidently" smack someone in the shins if they are rude.. lol

I agree, Cheyanne. If I could sit in my living room and watch the lights and listen to the carols and be with my family ... well, that's about all I'd really care about for Christmas. It's too bad the peace of the season has to be disturbed by clanging cash registers.

Did you see the news yesterday of lady's fighting at the entrance to a store because "someone was trying to cut in line?" Made me think of the lyrics to a Yogi Yorgisson song, "Peace on earth everyone, then someone slugs uncle Ben." :D :D

I hear that, Cheyanne! Read a disturbing article in the Globe and Mail yesterday about how smart those teens are re: consumerism.

Dear Santa, I hope you're rich:

And then there's the overzealous shoppers:

Would the tramplers have been thwarted by my cane?

Would they hear you over the clanging of cash registers, as DB puts it?

I believe that the stores propagate the trampling attitude with those loss leaders - like the $29 DVD player Wal-Mart advertised for the day after Thanksgiving.... the lady that was trampled received a phone call from a Wal-Mart rep in her hospital room apologizing for her condition and also asking her if she would like the store to put one of those DVD players on hold!!! ON HOLD!!!

I don't know... it isn't like it used to be at all - but we continue to try to make it a family holiday... a rememberance of a very special gift given to mankind..........

Just don't go to the mall the day after Thanksgiving!!!

LOL Scarecrow!

I that that was pretty shitty Cheyanne. You'd think Sprawlmart could have afforded to GIVE her the $29 item.

This is almost ironic. :D lol I posted a legitimate answer to one of the game and it was so far down the list and out of place by the time I [Submitted Reply], I deleted it. I guess I was composing my post for this thread and didn’t know it. LOL

“Are you tired of the Christmas hassle yet?”

Nup. I try to have all my shopping finished by Thanksgiving and can ignore the front-end hype. About 2 weeks before Christmas I start playing the carols and getting involved with our personal activities for the holiday. (works for me ;) )

What is the most outstanding memory about the holiday for you as a kid before 12 years old?

(I do a better stand up or shoot out than serious answer) ;)

I have done most of my Christmas shopping at ebay LOL.

What really irks me is seeing Xmas on signs - I am not in any way religous but that is taking Christ out of Christmas and the idea is to celebrate the birth of Christ, well that is what I take it as.

hope the knee is responding to the therapy Steph.

Christmas is to celebrate the gift of Christ to the world.

How can a pair of sox and a tie compare?

We have largely ceased to be christians and become

consumerians, and have traded lions for lines.

OK.....well if that's the case......I'm buying gold, myrrh and frankenstein for everyone!

Um........cept for the wee ones!

Frankenstein was a mean gift for those wisest of men to give that baby.....eh?

OK......OK.....I'm going.......no need to spew biblical stuff at me as if I don't know that....................myrrh was the nastiest gift!

*ducks and runs away*

I COMPLETELY lost ALL Christmas spirit years ago! It's all commercial now.Years ago I told my wife that pretty soon, they would have Christmas decorations,up in the stores before the
4th of July! This year they already had them up before Thanksgiving! We used to look forward to presents for our kids.
Now with the commercialism,we have to take a small loan for the
Grandchildren.I remember as a kid, wondering if I should ask my
parents,to spend $7 for a toy rifle,that I wanted.Now it's $100+
for one toy & they want 5/6. Irish
